Garmin golfing screen comes up when pressing start within a third-party app

Hi,

I have an app HIIT Timer (App) https://apps.garmin.com/apps/5678f09c-0c1d-4467-8dc7-66a6439fa124 where user presses start to begin a workout once inside the app. This has worked well for many years on all Garmin devices…
Customer is complaining (and sent me a video of) the following behaviour:

Press start to start workout

Garmin leaves my app running in background, but launches what looks like a golf tracking app over the top (complete with message “Round 1 Press to mark round”)

Garmin then notifies looking for GPS

My app is unreachable but appears to be running in the background

The black screen ("Round 1") is a Garmin overlay and should not come up as it should remain inside my app.
Never encountered this before, but it obviously makes my app unusable!

As my app has been in the wild for years now and is well established, I don't see how this can be my issue, but let me know if there are any code changes I need to check for.

I have only heard about it from this one person. But I’m a small sample size…

Is this reproducible elsewhere, or is this only affecting this one person? We'll try to reproduce here and see what happens.

(Simplified by cutting conditional branches that don't apply.)

Then, in the "start" method, I do the following:

Reset my workout tracking object
Timer.Timer.start()
ActivityRecording.createSession()
Create a number of fields for the fit record

Yes, it happens 100% of the time with my app.

He thinks it only happens with mine.
