Fenix 8 "makeWebRequest" does have problems with wildcard certificates from Let's encrypt

Hi,

I have used a Fenix 7 (Fenix 6 and Fenix 5) and with all these watches it was possible to load data from my server that is secured with a Let's Encrypt wildcard certificate. With Fenix 8 this is not possible any more. I am getting the usual "Bluetooth timeout" error message. I have not changed anything on the server side and the certificate is valid (has been issued recently, 2 days ago). I cannot reproduce this issue on the simulator, there it works without problems (like with the earlier Fenix models), also with "Use Device HTTPS Requirements" activated.

Not sure what I have to do here to make it work. Would be glad if this can be verfied by the devs.

Thanks!

  • stumbled on this problem myself, but it does fail in the simulator for me.  i have an aws cert, so not sure if that is actually the root cause.   makewebrequest works on all other devices but times out (-300) on any fenix8 device in the simulator.   don't have one myself (and not going to go out to buy one), but don't see any fenix8's having ever connected to my service, so likely a real world issue
