Feature request: align ViewLoop look-and-feel with current Garmin widgets

I was a bit disappointed that the ViewLoop implementation actually has a different look & feel than the current Garmin widgets. I really like the simple and effective dots that Garmin is using on its current widgets to show the number of views and which one is currently shown. Compared to that the ViewLoop implementation does not look as good and is also very slow/laggy in the animation. It would be great if Garmin could make its current look & feel available to CIQ apps.This should include also the ability to on the screen show which buttons will trigger an action (the white arc).

  • Still relevant on SDK 9.2.0 / API 5.2.0. ViewLoop options remain :page, :wrap and :color only, and the indicator style is fixed per device profile (simulator.json -> pageIndicator.type: 85 devices "arc", 20 "flat", none "dots"). :color cannot hide it either: COLOR_TRANSPARENT renders white and matching the background still leaves the gray track.

    We ended up replacing ViewLoop with a manual switchToView pager plus our own dot indicator, re-implementing wrap and input handling. Even a minimal :indicator => :none option would let apps keep ViewLoop's behavior and own the visual. Tested on Forerunner 165 hardware.

  • I completely agree. The native widgets have a super-nice page loop indicator. Why not offering that UI for CIQ?
