Feature Request: Add MTB DYNAMICS to the Connect IQ API

It is not currently possible to display the following information for mountain bike activities:

  • Jump count
  • Total air time
  • Total distance jumped

These fields are not available natively on Edge devices nor exposed via the api.

Access via the api would allow the community to develop their own features using this information.

    Hi Brandon, thank you for looking into this.

    I'm pretty sure it is natively functionality as part of the "MTB Dynamics" available on certain Edge cycling computers.

    The Edge certainly knows when you've completed a jump as the jump alert feature reliably tells you the air time, distance and "jump score" for each individual jump after you have landed.

    Over the weekend we did find that the Edge 840 Solar does list completed jumps, but only displays the first 9 jumps of each ride and the list won't scroll... the data is definitely being recorded. Perhaps the API hasn't been extended to expose this data after MTB Dynamics was added to the Edge range.

    Just as a note, if something is not available natively on a device, it typically can't be made available to the Connect IQ API (aside, of course, from web requests to third party APIs, which can often be done with the Communications module). Connect IQ exposes native functionality for use within apps. I've created a ticket to look into this.
