Almost two years ago, when the Edge 1050 was released, I reported a bug where custom tone profiles would not play in Data Fields and only worked in Applications. ( Edge 1050 doesn't play any tone profile in the Data Field! )
Since then, the same issue has appeared on the Edge 850 and Edge 550 as well. At this point, custom tone profiles no longer work either in Data Fields or in Applications on any of these devices.
The current solution is use Garmin's built in tones with timer. (It's not an elegant solution :( )
