Connect IQ causes watch face to crash

If you comment out settings elements in the settings.xml it will cause the watch face to crash inexplicably when that version is distributed to the watch by Connect IQ.

It should be noted that the simulator version works correctly with commented out settings.

  • That would make sense but it works fine in the simulator - it seems there is a discord between the app and the settings on the watch but not in the simulator - possibly due to the bug of not installing the correct version of everything on the watch.

  • It is totally infuriating as the watch face is working perfectly on the watch and simulator, except the moment SAVE is clicked in Connect IQ [with or without changes] the watch face crashes on the watch but has no signs of any problem in the simulator, there it works as expected.

  • I get the following error - Error: Not Enough Arguments Error. in the log file.

When clicking SAVE without making any changes to the Settings in Connect IQ.

It seems like the values are being corrupted somehow on the watch but not the simulator which is working as expected.

Also sometimes can catch the error in "Obj 333" - how does one find which variable that corresponds to?

  • Look at the ciq_log file from the device or look at the reports in ERA.  Things can be a bit different in the sim.
