bug: enduro3 doesn't display IQ! or IQ... when DF crashed

Today I was walking with Hiker DF ( https://apps.garmin.cn/apps/4debed0e-4266-495e-8215-a3a8755ee87a) on my main screen. At a point I looked at the watch to see what's the time (it's on the top of the Hiker DF screen), but I realized it can't be right. I looked for a few more seconds and I realized that the screen is not updating. I checked the time on my phone, and the time displayed on the datafield was from ~15 minute ago.

When I left the screen, and then came back to it (down/up) then it displayed the IQ... icon.

Later, when I saved the activity and checked the graphs I saw the same: the custom CIQ graphs were 15 minutes long, the default graphs were 30 minutes long.

So it looks like the datafield crashed, but it wasn't indicated, it simply stopped calling onUpdate and compute.

It's unclear whether the data field actually crashed before you left the screen and came back to it or crashed after (I suspect the latter). Did you obtain crash logs? Is this the only time you've observed this? Clearly, something was not functioning as expected when you noticed the screen was not updating, but that doesn't necessarily mean there was a crash at that point.

To investigate this further, we'd need crash logs if available, a reference to where in your code the crash occurred, and preferably something that's reproducible.

I have seen this behaviour on the Edge 1040 as well with another popular weather app - the screen shows a (web request) countdown when getting data and it stopped counting-down… odd I thought … but it was only on switching to another screen with CIQ ! shown, and back I realised there was a silent crash.

Pretty sure it was related to issue below which has a vague resolution… do you have a background timer/request?

Bug: Since the latest Edge 1040 firmware update, all background web requests instantly crash the app with no CIQ log generated. The same app runs perfectly on the Edge 1050
