Bug: device buttons and activity data stop working sometimes in the simulator

I am debugging a datafield and I click on the simulated device's buttons to start, lap, stop the activity. It works for a while but after some time (after running the app again and again) and it only works again after I close the simulator and start it again.

When the device buttons (aka clicking on the image where the button is on the device) don't work then it also doesn't work in Simulation > Activity Data > Start/Stop, etc

SDK 6.4.2, it happens in all devices

    When you say debugging do you mean you have break points set and are starting and stopping code execution? I haven't been able to cause this problem yet with or without the debugger, but I wonder if the debugger in particular has something to do with it.
