BLE issues with Fenix 5/5S

Hello,

Our ActiveLook application (BLEcommunication with ActiveLook sports smartglasses) runs fine on the 5X but produces an error on the 5 and 5S (both on the simulator and on the target devices):

Error: Symbol Not Found Error

Details: Failed invoking <symbol>

Stack:

- longToUuid() at /Users/xbonjour/eclipse-workspace/activelook-garmin-app-develop/Barrels/ActiveLookCom/sources/Consts.mc:11 0x10005158

- <init>() at /Users/xbonjour/eclipse-workspace/activelook-garmin-app-develop/Barrels/ActiveLookCom/sources/Consts.mc:4 0x1000b52d

Any idea how to solve this ? What are the differences between the 5X and 5/5S that could cause this problem?

And you are absolutely right : it is the 5X Plus that supports BLE.

Are you sure your not thinking the fenix 5x plus and not the fenix 5x? The plus devices do support this.

The fenix 5/5s do not support BLE in CIQ apps. The error you see is because you are trying to access BluetoothLowEnergy and it's not available.

See https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/compatible-devices/, and for a device, click on the blue circle. If it doesn't have
- Generic Bluetooth Low Energy Channel
no support for BLE.

Not all devices with CIQ 3.1 support BLE. In https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/b/news-announcements/posts/connect-iq-3-1-connects-you-to-the-world

you'll see a list of devices that supported this at the time of the post.
