beta SdK should allow to build IQ version and put it in the store

i think that limitation with beta SDK causes that it isn't tested by dev. There is no need to move testing period in future.

Usually devs will build beta version only  for themselves. Eventually it is enough to add BIG warning in console.

If somebody decide to publish version with beta - his choice.

  • I've reported it someday.

  • I would prefer that beta apps are used by users who opt-in to developer beta programs. Ala Google playstore. This has two benefits:

    1) Developer can run a beta with a selected user base that is willing to test apps they opt-in for

    2) Developer can run beta SDK with 1

Move current beta functionality to alpha builds, so developer can still do his own tests prior to releasing a beta.

  • I know I can build prg but:

    - manual installation by usb

    - no settings

simple wasting time and no full functionality.

It is just a waste to the Garmin, only autotest, no device test, a small number of dev...

    Let see

    - 4.2.beta1, 4.2.beta2... almost nobody test it

    - 4.2prod - the quality almost like 4.2beta1

so what is the sense to publish beta?

  • A compromise could be that a beta SDK would be allowed to build an IQ file, but that IQ file can only be published as a beta app, which means nobody can download it but the developer.

  • You can copy over set files or hard code settings.  Like I said, beta SDKs couldn't build iq file as long as I can remember.  Leaving it up to a dev means an app could be in the store with a big issue in the beta (test) SDK for a specific device, etc.  I think it's wise to only allow publishing apps with a production SDK..
