App unable to install via GCM, installs fine via Garmin Express

This is an on going issue that was mark 'completed' here https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/app-uninstalling-when-attempting-to-update-via-garmin-connect-mobile but does not seem to be fix. If it has please let me know what instructions I need to relay to my users to resolve it. Was this issue fixed in a previous update? If so which one so I can prompt my users to make sure they are up to date.

The issue is, when users attempt to update sometimes the app will uninstall and then they are unable to re install via GCM. This issue has been reported many many times over 8+ months.

This has occurred with this app https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/1df63e9d-f886-4541-b188-2406a3bf5be0 and on one of our data fields.

I can provide what ever additional info you need to help resolve this.

  • Still happening to me also. Some users even challenge me and say there "must be something wrong with the app" if it doesn't install for them Disappointed

  • Hi, can we PLEASE re-open this issue? The install experience through Garmin connect and Garmin Connect IQ on mobile has gone from really bad to worse. I get tons of support messages (and poor ratings) due to this issue. Users are not able to install apps (installs fine through Garmin express), they get stuck in install queue or being reverted back to the app download page without the app being installed, after clicking the install button. 

    Right now, this is the biggest issue with the whole ConnectIQ eco-system. We are right now missing a proper app distribution system. I can easily reproduce the problem so I really wonder how much effort was put into resolving this issue

  • This has been happening to us for awhile, we finally had to put a blerp about please use Garmin Express in the app description.

  • Hi, I am being practically bombarded with the same requests. Several new users contact me every day becuase they can't install some of my apps - it is not a single app, I get requests about at least 5 different and most popular apps. What can I tell my users other than use Garmin Express or contact Garmin support?
