Ambient light sensor API access

Does anyone know if there are plans for opening the (in my case Edge 530) ambient light sensor through an API? Apparently it has one since it can adjust the brightness automatically. It would be nice if one could read the light level and make a function including that and the current speed to control ANT+ capable lights. Does Garming have a place where you can officially make suggestions like that and upvote them?
