ActionMenu does not allow theme colour to be set

The ActionMenu allows you to set the theme to be dark or light, but not set an explicit theme colour like the glance or Menu2 menus.

But, on the fr265 and fr965 the action menu uses theme colours so always defaults this to Blue. We need to be able to set the theme colour on an ActionMenu and not just dark or light for these watches.

Right now, my apps are tailored to specific colours e.g. red or yellow so it looks really naff when the action menu comes up blue when the glance and Menu2 menus are set to another colour.

  • Here is a screenshot from an action menu on a 165:

You will notice the default blue theme colour to the selected item.

  • Yes. Action menus have colours on the 165, 265 and 965. I guess you are only looking at the Epix?

  • The action menu is intended to only show white text on black (always used for AMOLED) or black text on a white background. I'm not aware of any scenario where a system UI on device displays an action menu with colors. Am I wrong?

  • One possible option which would improve things would be to use the glance theme colour by default with an action menu.

This is not really a full solution since there is nothing to prevent people from developing apps and using different theme colours in different parts of their app, so you still need to be able to control the theme colour of an action menu to match, but it would likely make things better. Most people probably chose a single theme colour for the whole of their app. This also does not help if the app does not have a glance to take the colour from!
