22.22 FR165 DrawRadialText symbol not found

Since the last update, 22.22, method Dc.drawRadialText stopped working on the FR165 and FR165m.
It works fine in the sim, but crashes on a real device with error "Symbol not found".

I reported this last month when it was still in Beta as well:

https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/forerunner-165-series/forerunner-165-series---bug-reports/i/public-beta-version-22-xx/drawradialtext-symbol-not-found-in-dc

Now the software is rolling out, apps that use this will method will crash (including two of my watchfaces) with no easy way to work around this.

  • When removing the FR165 from the manifest, the app is removed from the user's watch when syncing with ConnectIQ for the next time. Not good.

This is interesting. Does the user have automatic updates enabled?

I assume that if automatic updates were disabled, the app would not be removed from the user’s watch unless they try to update the app. (Ofc it’s not clear whether they would be warned of this beforehand.)

And ofc, auto updates are enabled by default iirc.

It would probably be better if:

    - in the case of disabled auto updates, the user would be warned if accepting an update would remove the app from their watch

    - in the case of enabled auto updates, the user would be warned if accepting an update would remove the app from their watch, and they were given the chance to opt out of the auto update
