WatchApp : Gym Set/Rest Timer

Attention : As of Sept 1st
Max Usage time per month implemented. Last NON-PRO version.

This was created to serve an itch of my own. I am a forgetful person and after a while, I lose count on the number of sets I've already done.
Hence this solution.

The app has 3 items on it only.

Set : This is to show remind how many sets has been done. e.g. 3sets of 15 reps each. (you will keep count of the reps yourself)
Rest : This is the time in between sets. Per normal instance, Weight Lifting would have a recommended rest time of say 60secs (countdown timer)
Timer : This is just a stopwatch to show how long is the total workout time - inclusive of rest time.

The StartStop key starts and stops the stopwatch (this version will not pause it - looking in to how to do start/pause/stop)

The UP key will increament the # of sets.
The DN key will Reset the # of sets back to 1. (e.g: if you do a 5x5, at the end of the 5 set, you would press the DN key and reset it back to Set 1 for the next session.

Method of usage.

1) Start stop watch
2) start first set (x number of reps)
3) Press Up to increment Set. this sets off the Rest Timer (60 secs)
4) once The Rest Timer counts down to 0 secs, (last 5 secs will have a vibrate function) then you begin your actual 2nd set

How do I load on to 920xt

How do I set this up on the 920xt?
  • What do you mean? Install it and run it. It's just yet another app much like the Native RUN / Bike app.

you need to explain your situation and what is it that you are having an issue w/ and what you have already tried and all that jazz....
  • Is it possible to turn off GPS recording on Epix? it will save a lot of battery.
  • Note : Due to a bug in Garmin's Watch, GPS cannot be turned off for the 920xt / F3 and possibly the Epix/D2B. However VA users have verified that the bug does not affect them.(https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?315336-BUG-GPS-Enabled-when-Recording-Session-is-active)

Did you miss that note in the store description?
  • yes i missed info about Epix. Thank you.

    Current version of GymTimer?

Hello! I use this app generally for the same reason the person in Post #49 does - to track general gym/aerobic activity, including timers (for my rest periods), heart rate, overall time, and calories burned. And I love it.

Recently, the watch stopped vibrating both when I started an activity and when I saved an activity. I went to the Connect IQ store to see if there had been an update (or perhaps there was a Vivoactive update) and realized that 1) My GymTimer app looks nothing like the images in the app store, and 2) There is a Pro version available so you can edit timers, but I can already edit my timers.

Attached are some images to outline my confusion. So, a few questions:
    - What version of the GymTimer do I have?
    - If I upgrade my GymTimer to a newer version, will my watch face/layout change to what is shown in the images in the app store? Will I lose the ability to edit timers unless I pay to upgrade?
    - Any ideas why the vibration stopped when I start/save an activity and how to get this functionality back?

It's very likely that I completely overlooked something when reading through the forum posts; my apologies if that is the case.

I always rest for the same period, but my sets never take the same amount of time. So, can anyone explain to me why you would need a predetermined set timer?
I feel so stupid for asking, but I can't rap my head around it.
What if my sets take longer than the predetermined timer?

I would like it if I could just start my set, then stop my set when I've finished, which would then initiate the rest timer. When the rest time is over, the next set starts until I stop it again. Is this a possible feature?

I just want it to upload as a gym session and not for example an indoor walking workout.

Can I just start the timer, ignore everything else and let the app record my heart rate? When I'm done can I then save the workout and upload it automatically to Garmin Connect, as with the build in apps, such as running or cycling?

FWIW, that's exactly how I use it. I don't know of any simpler way to do it.
  • Upgrade to PRO level to unlock ability to save directly into GarminConnect & Unlimited App Usage & able to have custom work/rest times

Added a New Work/Rest Interval Timer. (it's 2 apps in 1. GymTimer and Interval Timer)

Connect your HR strap & HR and calories show up AutoMagically!!

Note : Due to a bug in Garmin's Watch, GPS cannot be turned off for the 920xt / F3 and possibly the Epix/D2B. However VA users have verified that the bug does not affect them.(https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?315336-BUG-GPS-Enabled-when-Recording-Session-is-active)

PRO Level Request : email to [email protected]

Direct copy paste from the app store description.

I have been using the app for a few months now and it just works for what I need it to do, which is just to record the workout in its entirety.

It's as simple as #1 press start, #2 lift the damn weights 😉 #press stop....
