Hi!

We're creating PaceMaker - an app which'll give you tips while you're on the race. We currently finishing our first prototype - an iOS app communicating with a Pebble smartwatch. We're now planning a support for Garmin watches. We wan't to start it with smth that we find very useful during our training and races: knowing distance that you're racing against we're giving you estimated finish time based on
  • current pace
  • average pace

Our iOS app on top of that advises you on pace based on LTHR - we'll add support for Garmin watches with this feature later on.

Do you find those two pieces of data (estimated time of race based on avg/cur pace and LTHR based pace advice) useful during races?
What else of advices/tips would you like to use during races?

Current iOS: screenshot and wireframe.
  • I'd look at existing realizations that are already on connectiq store. It is not clear to me, what benefits your application will bring? Do I need to take phone with me? If no (I hope), then what are the advantages?

Those are in fact great questions! I would focus on three things right now:
    • We're multi-platform. We work in very similar way on iPhone+Pebble, Garmin IQ or Apple Watch alone
    • We're allowing to change pace of what you're targeting *during* race if you don't feel that strong on this day
    • In future we'll read history from Garmin Connect and give you personalized hints based on LTHR, power, etc.

Please let me know if that makes any sense to you.
