Datarun plus

I have created a datafield, based on my Datarun-datafield: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/9...1-da97e59b0d99

Setup: you have to select the running activity and then long press the middle button on the left side. Then a menu opens where you can change the settings of the running activity. You can select the first datafield and change to one single field. Then you must change the contents of that single field, again using the menu. You have to choose the IQ option , then you can choose Datarun.
Don't forget to specify the settings you want, otherwise you get the default settings that I have specified. You can change the settings through the Garmin connect app, but for some people that doesn't work. Connecting to a PC and using Garmin express always works for changing the settings.

You can find the manual here:https://vermail.nl/datarun-plus.

In time I will create a copy of this datafield, so that one can have 2 versions with different settings.
  • I'm very interested in this datafield because of the ability to show stryd power. But is it obligate to connect the stryd as a powermeter? When I'm doing this I loose the option to get pace data from the stryd instead from my F5X because this option is only given when the stry is connected as a footpod. Do you think there's a solution to this?

Sorry to reply a bit late on this, as I am on holliday :)

You can have pace from Stryd in Datarun-plus, Stryd power in Datarun-plus as well in the Stryd datafield (and recording it to FIT-file)! That's the way I use in with my FR935. I had connected my Stryd a few months ago connected as a footpod and used only the Stryd datafield. A month ago there was a notifiction/question on my FR935 whether I wanted to connect a powermeter. From that moment the Stryd was connected as powermeter and footpod. And the powerdata showed up in the Datarun-plus datafield when I made a power-meter metric available. My pace is still from the Stryd: I have done some checks at our local track since then and the calibration/pace is still fine. With GPS it was always 20 to 30 meters off.

In 2017 a thread at the Garmin forum also gave information about this: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/developers/connect-iq/1233382-nesting-data-field-example-stryd-data-field-into-another-connect-iq-data-field. "We do broadcast as a bike power meter. You can use info.currentPower to achieve this if the user connects Stryd as a bike power meter. This limits usage to the watches that support bike power meters (920/F3/735), but it will work" says Angus from Stryd (.
. ">peterdedecker] . Since then the Fenix 5 series (and the FR935) can be added to the range of watches what support this.

So: you can search for a new sensor (powermeter) and add it. It should work!
  • Interesting that you can connect the Stryd device BOTH as a footpod and as a power meter. So my topic helped you and I also learned something new today, the power of the forum. :)

Good to see an alternative for the Stryde Data Field :)
Should be promoted as a Stryde alternative...almost overlooked DataRun Plus

A" Stryd alternative" is too much honor: this Datarun plus datafield doesn't register power data in the fit file. Therefore I use my Datarun datafield always in combination with the Stryd datafield.
