App: START TO RUN

The schedule is a 10 week run/walk schedule with 3 lessons per week.

Advice:
  • Try to run in an even pace (run slow enough so you can keep up this pace!)
  • Walk in a way that you are active but also recuperate enough to handle the next running block
  • Take (at least) one day of rest after each lesson!
  • Treat the schedule as a guideline (take extra rest when you feel too tired!)
  • Consult a doctor to take a cardiogram is a wise thing to do
Trivia:
  • This is the schedule that taught me how to run. Back in the day I couldn't run 500 meters, now I'm running ultramarathons... so this schedule worked wonders for me... I'm pretty sure it will also enable you to take up running, which is the reason I wrote this app for the Garmin Connect IQ platform.

Download:

The apps are free to use indefinitely but donations are encouraged from within the apps with a small encouragement text.

    Thank you...the changes are welcomed

The original StartToRun was made popular by Evy and her pep talks during the workouts.
Any interest showing random pep talk text during the workout :o (too kitschy or distracting ?)

    >> ... leaving the activity by long press down button ...
    >I have no influence on that behaviour from within my app, so most likely it's a fenix5 bug (or a crash of your watchface, you might try if you have the behaviour with another custom watchface)

< did a test with the Garmin app "HRV Stress"
< Garmin app long press down button shows the custom watchface
< IQ app and long press down button shows the first Garmin watchface
    < perhaps CIQ restrictions
< I will do the test with another watchface....have only one custom watchface on the watch now

Latest version looks great on the Fenix5 ...

Did a test with ">custom watchface Digi Five">custom watchface Digi Five

Garmin app "HRV Stress" : long press down button shows the custom watchface "Digi Five"
IQ app "StartToRun" : long press down button shows the first Garmin watchface

Be it what it is :o
  • Native Garmin Apps are not written in the same language so it could well be that they are treated differently from connect iq apps... I have no influence on it from my app, so not much I can do about that :)

I've thought about it too to add motivational speech to the app, but random wouldn't work, it would have to make sense... I'm a bit scared it would get a bit repetitive as well... I'll add it to the list to think about it :)

Hello Peter...I can't figure out how to "back" on my Vivoactive 3, so that I can end a session. I use the button on the side of the watch to start the app and when I press it again, it pauses the app, but I can't figure out how to end the app.
