Data Field : Pace Band

Super simple new data field, to get rid of the need to wear those paper pace bands!

I made this for myself on the way to the Brighton Marathon, but this is so useful for any distance race.

Simply shows you what elapsed time you need to be at your next mile/km split

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a18bb975-f59c-43e0-9293-a0e69061a0d8

I'll also be adding the ability to use this on a track too, something I know for me will save me having to memorise the split for every 100m or so!

Any ideas welcome!
  • Nice, was thinking about making this myself a while ago but of course got distracted (and didn't have the time/energy at that moment). I usually determine which average pace I have to run and use that, but this gives some more precise info about your actual time (as the watch always has some extra distance compared to the race).

Might give it a try on saturday, most likely have a half marathon then ;)

I've used this on Forerunner 235 and its great, thanks. Is there a reason that its not available for the Vivoactive?

Thanks! It seemed so obvious to me when I was marathon training so I thought why not!

I'll have a look at this spcooney, Vivoactive should be supported for sure, so I might have missed it from the list of supported devices

Very valid app but there is a problem. I used it in the marathon but at one point the garmin marked me one km more and the app then the time to be obtained between 2 km. At 40km the Garmin marked me 42 and the app was the end of the marathon. In conclusion, it is very easy for the Garmin to miss the distance, especially where there are many buildings. Is there any way to get back or manage the timing of your paceband app? Back one step bottom, or other ...
  • New version now out. Complete rewrite to ensure time-based splits so that GPS accuracy won't show incorrect data. Thanks to Marco for this!
