HRV
Get the app.

Graphing.
The design currently only saves to 1 location per day. The timestamp is taken when the test starts, so autostart will take the timestamp at the scheduled time. This means that any saved test will overwrite any previous test of that same day. A day is calculated from the local timezone, so travelling won't disrupt the storage so long as you have updated the timezone before starting the test. The averages are a 30 day mean average.

Description & Explanation
Wouldn't that be nice. Will happen, but might take a while.
This page could be useful.

Notes
- Your device must have firmware that supports Connect IQ Apps.
- You can save the results by creating a log file. To do this you must work out which name has been applied to the HRV app file. The apps are in the /GARMIN/APPS folder. It will be a name something like A6227C9B.PRG. You then create a log file with the same name, e.g /GARMIN/APPS/LOGS/A6227C9B.TXT. Each reading you save will output a result formatted as ISO8601 date & time, hrv, avg pulse, 30 day hrv avg, 30 day pulse avg.

Which algorithm are you using RMSSD or stddev? RMSSD is better as it's less influenced by HR trends, including breathing patterns. I also like to normalize RMSSD to RR to give a more stable value.

Remember that ln(RMSSD)*20 is a patented formula. http://hrvtraining.com/2013/07/04/rmssd-the-hrv-value-provided-by-ithlete-and-bioforce/

It's not a case of me changing my mind. I would love to provide a working version version for the vivo, but not so much that I am prepared to buy a vivo just to test some code. Vivo users will get the app when the simulator accurately represents the device.

Any update on Vivoactive support? The firmware on it is up to 3.10 now - might have resolved the previous issues / be closer to the emulator? I recently purchased one and would love this app. Happy to help test, I have a software dev background.
  • Update user profile, and website

Great application, congrats!. I have one suggestion to improve it. Could this application modify the user profile automatically, storing the resting hr?. It could be nice. also, there is any chance to export the results to the connect website?. I prefer to see it on the watch, as is implemented, however, storing the results on the website makes a sort of backup.
  • 1) user profile update - no
    2) export to GC - No (perhaps if u give USD5000 to shark bait for him to pay garmin to get access to GC API)
    3) you obviously missed out the part where you can export the data in CSV form and plot your own. Search the threads
  • You miss the point

I'm aware of rhe posibility of export via csv, but this is not the same as automatoc update, is clear?. Obtain a automatic backup othe data is always desirable feature.
Also, regarding point 1, why not?. This metric is valuable in all FirstBeat analysis.
Regarding 2, what do you mean?, is clear that this is dificult to be done, however from my point, is not due lack of a direct way to do this(that do not exist now) but the lack of ways to monetize the apps developers obtain.Do you mean this?
  • Is it low or high ?

    Hello everybody,

And for a start thank you to the author for this app :-)

I just have a question. I'm pretty sure it has been covered somewhere in these 23 pages but I couldn't find where (didn't digg it deeply though). I just ran a test with my 920XT and it says I have an HRV of 82. Is it "low", "high"... Are they some referentials or numbers to compare with somewhere ?

I also have some dev experience with different devices and am dying to get HRV working on my Vivo. Besides reading a power meter, that's the one thing that's missing for me. Have a great day.

Quite possible that within the next couple of months I will return to this project for a refresh, and I expect that will include supporting the Vivoactive.

You might try putting in a request here. This does fall within my range of interest though, so I will keep it in mind.
