HRV app. Discussion, report bugs, suggested features, etc...

HRV
Get the app.

Graphing.
The design currently only saves to 1 location per day. The timestamp is taken when the test starts, so autostart will take the timestamp at the scheduled time. This means that any saved test will overwrite any previous test of that same day. A day is calculated from the local timezone, so travelling won't disrupt the storage so long as you have updated the timezone before starting the test. The averages are a 30 day mean average.

Description & Explanation
Wouldn't that be nice. Will happen, but might take a while.
This page could be useful.

Notes
- Your device must have firmware that supports Connect IQ Apps.
- You can save the results by creating a log file. To do this you must work out which name has been applied to the HRV app file. The apps are in the /GARMIN/APPS folder. It will be a name something like A6227C9B.PRG. You then create a log file with the same name, e.g /GARMIN/APPS/LOGS/A6227C9B.TXT. Each reading you save will output a result formatted as ISO8601 date & time, hrv, avg pulse, 30 day hrv avg, 30 day pulse avg.

Is there a way when updating to remove the previous version? I get 2 versions of the program. Maybe add a section on the 1st page for the proper way to remove previous version of the program before updating while keeping data.

To ensure you keep your data you can make a copy of your data file, probably /GARMIN/APPS/DATA/A6227C9B.STR. You can open the file with a text editor to confirm if it belongs to HRV, and to see what version it belongs to. You should see 3 recognizable text fields near the start. 1/ UTC timestamp 2/ App name 3/ App version. The app will use the datafile with the matching name. So datafile /GARMIN/APPS/DATA/A6227C9B.STR belongs to /GARMIN/APPS/A6227C9B.PRG. By renaming your old data file, to match that of that current app, you can effectively import your data.

Noted. I am investigating the possibilities. I could probably export FIT data, although you would have to cut & paste the information out of the log file still. But sadly there is no field for HRV yet, and I figure why export the pulse when you can already do that? Can you think of any other useful formats? I was trying to think if there are any other places where you might want to import your test results. All things going to plan you can expect a Kubios feature sooner rather than later :)

I didn't answer your main question very well did I. You can always just manually delete the old PRG file from /GARMIN/APPS. I am surprised you're getting multiple versions, but then I may have inadvertently changed the app name since inception. Note to self; I know you don't want to, but you really should create some nice documentation.
  • I have The 2.60 Firmware for the Vivoactive and the 0.9.9 beta HRV. Every time I load it and touch the screen, the watch reboots.

Same issue here. I have the Vivoactive 2.6 firmware, but I have the current version of HRV, 1.0, if I touch the screen, press Start (upper right button), or the back arrow, it reboots my watch. :(

I have no resolution for this. I do not have a physical device to troubleshoot with. It works flawlessly in the simulator.
  • No Kubios option yet Shinew :(

No hurry, I'm looking forward to it :)

One suggestion after few tries of the app, if one can adjust the guided breathing rate, that would be great. I naturally breath much slower than suggested in the app, so I just ignored the guided breathing.

The last 2 times I have updated I have ended up with 2 versions showing on my watch. I have to uninstall and re-install to fix this, which I assume will loose the historic data.

Also, could the HRV app be given a proper icon. What I see right now is a tiny blue square IQ icon rather than a more normal icon I see on other apps.

    Fenix 3 with 3.10 fw.

In my reply to the post you have quoted you will find the solution to retain your data. Post #114

I was unaware of the usage of app icons. I use a 920 and the icon did not appear to be used. I will look in to it.
