HRV
Get the app.

Graphing.
The design currently only saves to 1 location per day. The timestamp is taken when the test starts, so autostart will take the timestamp at the scheduled time. This means that any saved test will overwrite any previous test of that same day. A day is calculated from the local timezone, so travelling won't disrupt the storage so long as you have updated the timezone before starting the test. The averages are a 30 day mean average.

Description & Explanation
Wouldn't that be nice. Will happen, but might take a while.
This page could be useful.

Notes
- Your device must have firmware that supports Connect IQ Apps.
- You can save the results by creating a log file. To do this you must work out which name has been applied to the HRV app file. The apps are in the /GARMIN/APPS folder. It will be a name something like A6227C9B.PRG. You then create a log file with the same name, e.g /GARMIN/APPS/LOGS/A6227C9B.TXT. Each reading you save will output a result formatted as ISO8601 date & time, hrv, avg pulse, 30 day hrv avg, 30 day pulse avg.

Yeah, that happened to me once, had to reboot my watch. I didn't put too much work in to trying to cover for everything that could go wrong, it's beta version after all. With a reliable pulse from the HRM you should not have any problems, I can't fix the strap with coding ;)

Thanks for this app. It is very interesting.
  • Have downloaded to my 920XT but cannot even find the app on the watch! Tried three times now - could someone tell me how I fire it up?

If it has installed correctly then you; unlock the device to the activity profiles screen > scroll down to IQ Apps, enter > select HRV, enter, and you should be there. Check in GE or GCM, if it shows as installed then I would reinstall it, eg uninstall then install again.
  • Many thanks for the reply.

I got to the bottom of it - after about an hour on the phone with Garmin UK Support - I've copied the response from their email update below:

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

Following on from our earlier phone call, our senior team have looked into this.

I'm afraid at the moment apps from Connect IQ are not supported on the Forerunner 920xt. I am unable to give a release date as to when they will be supported.

You can however download watch faces and data fields from Connect IQ.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.

So - it looks like the 920XT cannot be used with IQ Apps - even though there is a specific section in the Connect IQ App Store for the 920!!!

    I'm amazed!!
  • Many thanks - 3.07 installed and app working nicely. Nice app you've created there. Thanks.
  • Sorry, could you explain how to use the app on Garmin 920XT?
I did not find any way to access the APP and launch it. Thanks
  • Sorry, could you explain how to use the app on Garmin 920XT?

That is already covered by this post. Do you have the beta firmware?
  • Just to make sure it's clear, apps and widgets will work on the 920XT if beta firmware is installed. I've contacted UK product support to let them know that it's fine to point customers to the beta firmware if they are interested in trying out apps and widgets on the 920XT, as long as they explain that there is potential for unexpected behavior or device instability, as with any beta software.
