HRV
Get the app.

Graphing.
The design currently only saves to 1 location per day. The timestamp is taken when the test starts, so autostart will take the timestamp at the scheduled time. This means that any saved test will overwrite any previous test of that same day. A day is calculated from the local timezone, so travelling won't disrupt the storage so long as you have updated the timezone before starting the test. The averages are a 30 day mean average.

Description & Explanation
Wouldn't that be nice. Will happen, but might take a while.
This page could be useful.

Notes
- Your device must have firmware that supports Connect IQ Apps.
- You can save the results by creating a log file. To do this you must work out which name has been applied to the HRV app file. The apps are in the /GARMIN/APPS folder. It will be a name something like A6227C9B.PRG. You then create a log file with the same name, e.g /GARMIN/APPS/LOGS/A6227C9B.TXT. Each reading you save will output a result formatted as ISO8601 date & time, hrv, avg pulse, 30 day hrv avg, 30 day pulse avg.

Thanks a lot for the update, works perfectly again (with fenix 3 FW 5.00 / CIQ SDK 1.2.1, or whatever caused the previous app store version to fail on the graph page).
  • Great! I am going to test it tonight, thanks a lot!
It is the only app I find usefull so far. Using it everyday.

With the new Garmin Connect 2.0 comming in Q1 2015 and the posibility to store data in fit-files and showing them on Garmin Connect, I really hope there is going to be an update taking advantage of this things in the future ;-)
  • Installed the update and works properly again!

BTW for Vivoactive users. HRV app is once again supported, and I can confirm works with latest firmware.

I expect the HRV app may well become obsolete. Garmin have introduced Stress Score on the Forerunner 630, which is a CIQ HRV application. I can't see why they wouldn't make this available on other devices, and I expect you will see Stress Score support on Garmin Connect.

I like your app a lot more! There is more information and you created a great graph which is very helpful for interpreting the results over time.

As far as I know the new garmin stress score only gives you a bad/good/very good/etc.

Anyway, I'll continue to use your app. I like it more...
  • 24h-hours HRV-measurement?

    Hi!
    Great app!

Do you think about a version for 24 hours measurement of HRV also? Or don't you think that this is a more exact way?

Hi JMEYERDO. I don't think a 24hr version would be very practical in this instance. Without being able to go back and look at the individual points, an average over a day will tell you very little. What I guess is probably the most accurate way to monitor the state of your HRV, would be to set the schedule to take a 1 hr reading, 45 minutes after you go to sleep. From a small amount of searching around the net, it looks to me like that is the time where you will most likely be at your deepest sleep. I'm no doctor, it's just a guess on my part.
  • Looks interesting, any chance it will become available for the new 230/630 forerunners or there are some technical limitations ?
