Description
Plus codes are a short reference for a place. Developed to provide a solution for areas of the world without street addresses, they're ideal for activities like geocaching, orienteering or hiking. They give you a short reference that's easier to remember, say or write down than a latitude and longitude.
This datafield continuously displays the plus code for your current location. No bluetooth or phone connection is required.
You can enter the displayed codes into plus.codes, Google Maps, Mapy.CZ and others.
Technology
Plus codes are an open source Google project to provide an address-like solution for the areas of the world where street addresses do not exist or are not widely known. The technology and codes are free to use by anyone for any purpose. No permission or licencing is required.
A full code looks like 8FVC8FXR+QH. The first four digits are like an area code, and can be left off if you're within about 30km of the place ("8FXR+QH"). They can also be left off if you give a nearby town a city ("8FXR+QH, Zurich").
The codes are based on a grid which can be explored on the site plus.codes
