Hi all,
I've just had my first watch face approved: Main Range, an alpine scene for AMOLED Garmins. As a ski lover I couldn't quite find the face I wanted so built one myself.
What it does
- A living scene that follows your local sunrise and sunset. The sun moves across the sky, the sky goes from morning blue through dusk to a starry night, and in the evening the chalet windows and gondola cabins light up and the chimney smokes.
- Snow-day data: altitude (ALT M), tomorrow's snow chance (SNW TMW) and a sunset countdown, which shows the next sunrise after dark.
- Big, clear time, date, temperature and weather, plus a battery-friendly always-on mode (kept under 10% lit, with burn-in shift).
- Free version: the full scene, the data row above and 2 colour themes.
There's an optional one-off Pro unlock (5 themes, 3 data pages you switch with touch and hold, custom slots, snowfall and storm scenes, a POW alert and a 3-day snow count). Details are on the store page.
Watches: epix (Gen 2), epix Pro (Gen 2) 42/47/51 mm, fenix 8 AMOLED 43/47 mm, fenix 8 Pro 47 mm, Forerunner 265/265S/965, Venu 3/3S. AMOLED only, because the sky gradients band badly on MIP screens.
Store: Main Range watch face
A couple of notes for other devs: it's layered bitmaps (day/dusk/night bases plus light overlays), with only one scene loaded at a time to stay inside the watch-face memory limit. Touch and hold uses WatchFaceDelegate.onPress, because quick taps aren't delivered to faces. I used AI tools to help with the code and art pipeline.
I've only tested on my own epix 2. Feedback is very welcome, especially from anyone on a 360 px (FR265S) or 454 px watch. Please mention your model if something looks off. I'll post updates here.
