Watchface: Panoptic

Hello!

This is my first post here, and I wanted to introduce myself and share a watch face I’ve been working on called Panoptic
. I’ve used the Data Lover watch face for years, and it inspired me to create my own.

Real-Time Astrology Calculations Based on Your Location

I’ve seen watch faces that show the positions of the planets, and I wanted to take that a step further by turning those positions into practical astrological indicators.

I included a sky database, called an ephemeris, so the watch can calculate the planets’ current positions. Panoptic checks their major astrological relationships, called aspects, and how close each relationship is to exact, called the orb. Your location and selected house system also feed into the calculations. Everything runs directly on the watch and doesn’t need an internet connection.

The results appear as four 0 – 100 scores in segmented radial gauges around the perimeter:

  • Wealth — check it before dealing with money, reviewing financial goals or planning your next step.

  • Love — check it before a date, reconnecting with someone or having an important conversation.

  • Vitality — reflect on your energy, exercise and recovery when planning the day ahead.

  • Career — check it before starting a project, submitting an application, presenting an idea or tackling demanding work.

Cryptocurrency and Precious-Metal Prices

I’ve seen Bitcoin prices on a few watch faces, but I wanted to take it a step further and let the user choose any cryptocurrency they want. I also added gold and silver since they’ve been popular recently.

More Information, Bigger Text

My first version displayed a ton of information, but everything was too small to read. So I enlarged everything and added a cycling view system so I could squeeze everything in while keeping it readable.

Features

Panoptic can automatically cycle between the weather forecast and three configurable Move Rings at intervals you choose. The upper gauges can also alternate between sunrise/sunset and UV/humidity. You can keep either view fixed if you prefer.

You can customize the health and activity fields, choose a three-day or five-day forecast, change themes and time colors, and configure the always-on display. There’s also moon phase support, and the settings are available in six languages.

Panoptic supports 67 round Garmin models, including MIP and AMOLED displays. Astrology is available on 57 models; the remaining ten use an alternate layout with additional data fields.

Feedback

I’d love to hear what you think, particularly about the astrology indicators, whether you find the cycling views useful, and how readable everything is on your watch.

Suggestions, questions and bug reports are all welcome here. Please mention your watch model when reporting an issue, and feel free to share screenshots of your configurations.

Thanks for taking a look!
