Hi everyone—I'm the developer of Nordic, a free Connect IQ app for tracking sauna, cold plunge, and alternating hot/cold sessions.
I built it around physical buttons and a readable timer, with manual phase changes rather than a preset routine telling you when to move on.
What it does
-
Sauna: Time a session with the watch kept outside the sauna.
-
Cold Plunge: Track a standalone plunge, operating the buttons above water.
-
Nordic Cycle: Move through sauna, transition, cold plunge, and rest phases, with round counts and separate phase totals.
-
Activity recording: Save sessions as generic Garmin activities with phase-boundary laps.
-
Optional ANT+ heart rate: Use a compatible paired chest strap, with an indication when readings are missing.
-
Pause and recovery: Pause/resume, confirm before discarding, and recover a checkpointed local summary after an interruption.
There’s no subscription, separate Nordic account, or required companion app. You can use it without a heart-rate strap.
Compatibility

Important limitations
Keep your watch outside the sauna and within its manufacturer’s temperature limits. Timings follow your button presses; they are not automatic measurements of heat or cold exposure.
Operate buttons above water. Chest straps have their own temperature and water-use limits, and ANT+ reception can drop underwater or out of range. Nordic does not provide stored-HR backfill or Bluetooth strap support.
This is a timer and activity logger—not a medical device or an indication that it’s safe to remain in heat or cold.
Feedback welcome
I’d appreciate feedback on button behavior, screen readability, phase tracking, and how saved activities appear in Garmin Connect. If you report an issue, please include your watch model, firmware version, and the steps to reproduce it. Please don’t post private health data.
