Hi, I'm an indie developer working on a small app for tracking time. I'm both frightened and curious about any thoughts on it, if you wish to try it out.
The problem I'm trying to solve is that I don't like starting timers. I usually forget them (the pasta is never al dente…). My previous systems have all been to write down what I just did, inferring the start time from the previous entry. This app is that, in digital form, with the watch as your tool.
How it works: open the app, tap the category you just finished. It ends now and starts where your last entry ended - nudge ±5 min if needed, or do nothing and it commits itself. Entries sync to a web dashboard with day/week timelines.
The reason this ended up on the watch is that it's hard to doomscroll a watch. It just keeps me more focused when switching between projects in rapid succession.
My wife finds logging after the activity harder to grasp than starting a timer and then performing the activity. She is a planner, I am a procrastinator that jumps around between projects. This project is the first that has actually helped me focus. By visualizing what I am spending my time on I procrastinate less.
You can have up to 16 categories - more than that and the interface on the watch becomes a bit too cumbersome.
It is completely EU-based and runs on most round CIQ 3.1+ Garmin watches: Fenix 6/7/8/E, Epix 2, Enduro, MARQ, Forerunner 55–970, round Venu, Vivoactive 4–6.
