Blood Donation Tracker — private offline history and reminder countdown

I built Blood Donation Tracker as a simple, private way to keep donation dates on a Garmin watch without an account, phone connection or server.

It can log today or an earlier donation, keeps the last 24 dates plus a lifetime total, and shows a countdown to a reminder date using the interval you select. Duplicate and future-date protection are included, and everything stays in on-device storage.

Important: the date is a personal reminder only, not a medical eligibility decision. Rules vary by country, donation type and individual health, so users should always follow their blood center and qualified medical advice.

I am the developer. The app is completely free and requests zero permissions.

  • I downloaded and tried it out. After I set up all the parameters, a black screen with an 'IQ!' icon appeared and everything froze there. I'm using an Instinct Crossover.

  • Thanks for reporting this, and I'm sorry the app stopped on the IQ! screen. That icon means the app hit an unexpected runtime error, so this is not expected behavior.

I checked the published v2.0.0 listing and its package: Instinct Crossover is not currently included in the supported-device list, so I need to reconcile how this version reached your watch before suggesting a safe fix.

    Could you please confirm:

    1. The exact model/variant (Instinct Crossover, Solar or Tactical).
    2. The watch software version.
    3. The Blood Donation Tracker app version, if Connect IQ shows it.
    4. Whether it was installed through the Connect IQ Store or manually/sideloaded.

No donation history or other health data is needed. Please do not uninstall it yet if you have local history you want to preserve. I'm treating this as a high-priority compatibility case and will update this thread once the device/package path is verified.

  • I am using the Instinct Crossover Standard running software version 17.11 (3153dcd), with Blood Donation version 1.0.0 installed directly from the Connect IQ Store.

  • As a developer, you'll find info in your ERA reports, including a friendly stack track.  You'll only see ERA reports for the current version in the store.  You can also ask the user to email you the ciq_log.* files from apps/logs on their device.

  • Thank you — Standard, firmware 17.11, app v1.0.0 and Store installation give me the exact target. Before reinstalling, please connect the watch to a computer by USB and look in GARMIN/APPS/LOGS for a file named ciq_log (the extension can vary). If it exists, please attach a copy here. It may contain the crash location; it should not require your donation history. Please do not uninstall yet if you need to preserve local history. • I’ve changed to the Forerunner 165 and the app works great. However, it would be great to add the blood volume added and the total donated blood in ml
