I'm trying to do this on my VA as well. You have to go through CIQ, Garmin Devices, Vivoactive, CIQ Apps, Watch Faces, ActiFace, Settings. Make your changes and save. Then it appears you have to click "Update" but I'm just getting "Device Communication Error" at that point and no changes to my watch face. My CIQ is 3.1...
  • Hi, is your Vivoactive updated to the latest fw 3.30? Have you tried to restart both, watches and phone?

    Hi Petr,

Since I haven't seen it above, this is just to confirm that ActiFace is indeed working safe & sound on a VivoActive with firmware 3.30 - without refreshing anything. It just updated the watch and the watchface OTA (via BT via the phone) and ran instantly and perfectly.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy with ActiFace as it is, but would like to take the chance to pin down my thoughts. I am actually thinking/wishing of some more options, such as free positioning of windows and parameters. For instance, is it possible (by the SDK) to have a heart rate chart in the watch face next to the right side of the history graph (and move the circular steps counter up)? An updated heart rate chart every 5-15 minutes or so (should be configurable) similar to the apple watch would be a cool add-on to have a permanent and handy cardio analysis. There are unlimited possibilities...

  • Thanks for info. It would be fine to have HR on watchface but watchfaces have limited capabilities for lower power consumption and some features (such as ANT+ connection) are available only from apps and widgets, not from watchfaces. From the similar reason I cannot make ActiFace fully customizable. For now, ActiFace on some devices uses 3/4 of the memory which is dedicated for a watchface and each functionality adds some more amount. Of course, I'm doing some optimalizations in each version. But now, there are these hardware and CIQ limitations, and it's good, because it allows to use Garmin devices for 10 days as smart watches without charging (in comparison to 18 hours with Apple Watch).
  • watchfaces have limited capabilities for lower power consumption

I understand the most imortant reasoning of power savings mechanisms and also like the fact that vivoactive does not need to be charged every day.

some features (such as ANT+ connection) are available only from apps and widgets, not from watchfaces

This was my concern, but it is understandable

    Keep up the good work!

    Cheers
