Yet two other apps (including NoFrills) were updated in 2022, and the developer has replied in the nofrills thread 8 months ago (2024). So the dev's own actions have rendered that statement obsolete.
I agree that all indications are it's unlikely NoFrills will be updated, especially since it currently doesn't support any AMOLED devices, meaning it would likely be a lot of work to add support any single AMOLED device, like Fenix 8 (assuming that the request is for an AMOLED variant of Fenix 8). Notably, people have been asking the developer to update the app for new devices in that thread for a couple of years now, and he hasn't responded to those specific requests.
My suggestion was more of a "couldn't hurt but it probably won't work" thing, which is why I also said "note that nofrills hasn't been updated since 2022 tho."
