App: FTMSElliptical

Looking for feedback from my new app, FTMSElliptical is a datafield that connects to FTMS compatible Bluetooth Smart Elliptical trainers and records workout metrics to your activity session

any feedback welcome

  • Hi. I just installed it on my Enduro 3, added the app as a datafield to my Elliptical app and try to connect it with my FlowFitness CF5i but no success. Kino app sees I-CONSOLE-0003-CF5i.

I hope you have some advice to make the connection work.

  • did you try it solo? FTMS only allows a single connection, so you can't connect both kinomap and the datafield simultaneously

Also, does it show the device and just not collect data, or does it not detect the device at all while scanning?

  • Hi tried solo. I even turned off the Bluetooth of my phone.

When going to the data field I could not see if my Enduro was scanning for devices. Only the data fields recording time etc.

  • Sorry, missed your reply...

the app should display 'scanning' before starting the activity timer. (i.e. launch the Elliptical app, and before pressing start, the datafield will display 'scanning')

Once one or more FTMS capable devices are detected, the app should display the device name. (if more than one device is found, there will be a timer countdown and it will rotate displayed device names every 5 seconds)

Presuming a device is found, pressing start while its name is displayed will trigger the datafield to pair with the device and begin recording data.

If no device is found (datafield is still showing 'Scanning' when you press 'start') then a default selection of data fields will be presented, all of which leverage data available natively from garmin, like elapsed time, cadence, calories, etc.)

can you use a Bluetooth Scanner app and confirm the following:

    'Service' 1826 is present

under Service 1826, characteristic '2ACE' is present?

can you also tell me whether characteristic '2A54' is present? (this is a legacy data mode that I'm not yet supporting, so maybe your device is using this mode)

  • Thanks for your reply and your attempt to help. Unfortunately the Elliptical app does not show scanning before pressing the start button. It therefore does also not list FTMS devices. After pressing start the FTMS datafields also does not show scanning.

I tried several Bluetooth Scanner app but no one is showing Service 1826 for my Elliptical.

    Again thanks for your help.
