IN CONCLUSION!

I am an independent software developer. I'm also a dedicated runner, passionate about my health/fitness and been an owner of many Garmin devices over the years (305, 310, 910, vivofit to name a few). If you like BigTime and want to find out more please visit www.boiledsweets.com/garnin.

Now go, go run...

Thanks! :)
  • I just downloaded this Watch Face and it's great! I do have one issue. It's only displaying all the data in black and white. Shouldn't there be color? Am I missing some setting? If so, please tell me so i can mitigate my issue. Thanks! :)

    which device?
Have you tested another watchface with colours?
  • I'd be glad to - what's the best way to do so?

Perhaps post a request in the connectIQ forum
  • Coming in next version...

    Additional Icons

Great watch face, very useful. I'm glad to see that you are adding icons. Although the real estate is somewhat limited, is there any way to display via icon, whether GPS or Sensors are on/connected? People have been having significant issues with GPS staying on and drainign the battery. It seems having a quick way to see this would be helpful until Garmin can get their act together and manage the GPS better. Same would go for sensors so we can see if the ANT+ radio is on and looking for a sensor.

    Thanks!

Until Garmin expose that to us developers the answer is no. We are limited with what we can offer, based on what is avaiable in the connectIQ. Will I add a GPS/sensor icon once Garmin expose that to us? Yes. Can I do it at the moment? No. Please request Garmin add it.

GPS and ANT sensors are not enabled in watch mode.

If a device issue is causing those features to be enabled, then it will be fixed with a device firmware update.

Adding a ConnectIQ API to monitor a device firmware bug is nonsensical.

I think this is related to a battery drain issue discussed at great length on the vivoactive forum BUT as far as I can see there's no feedback from Garmin so the users are starting ask us developers to add features to try and help.

  • Ruper - the vivoactive forum is primarily user-to-user, but occasionally there will be a statement from garmin (new firmware, etc). I hope people having the problem are contacting garmin support outside of the forum, as that way Garmin will surely take note and fix it. I myself see no more that 5-10% battery drain per day, including 40-60 minutes with GPS on.

The one time I did see a high drain, i9t so happened that GCM had crashed on my phone, but with BT on, and it being in range of the vivoactive, the vivoactive kept trying to "phone home" and failing.

I was thinking that the BigTime watch face was my problem, but now I think it is worse. The BigTime watch face seemed to come and go and each time it came back, it set my steps back to zero. With the regular default watch face that came with the watch, my steps were recorded. I finally figured out how to switch the watch face back to the default. However, I have spent hours looking at the problem of the watch disconnecting and not connecting at all. Since I got my Garmin VivoActive, my HTC One M8 phone was upgraded from Android Kitcat version 4.4.2 to Lollipop version 5.0.1. Before and after the update, the Bluetooth is 4.0 Smart Ready (according to specs listed in Wikipedia). Garmin Connect Mobile is build 1.9.1. I cannot find where the GPS version is located. I cannot find where the firmware version is located. I deleted Garmin Connect Mobile and reinstalled it in my efforts to fix the problem. Since the reinstall, I can no longer pair the watch to my phone at all. The device sync audit is now empty. Now the icon for Garmin Connect Mobile does not show up on my phone. To open the app, I have to go to Play Store and click on open. I have only had my Garmin VivoActive for a few days. I am not sure what to try next, although I do plan to contact HTC tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas?
