WatchFace: Activity Classic

This is a thread for discussion of the Activity Classic Watch face.

The Activity Classic watch face combines the simplicity and readability of an analogue watch dial with the activity tracking capabilities of the Garmin devices.

Features include:
- Dual time / UTC hour hand with configurable style, offset and highlight colour

- Optional moon phase indicator in place of numeral 6 or 9.

- Top left quadrant:- Green/Orange/Red arc shows battery charge status.

- Top right quadrant:- Notification arc in top right quadrant which shows the count of unread notifications. The arc can be enabled/disabled and its colour can be selected using the watch settings in the Garmin Connect mobile app. The first notification appears as a large bar between 1-5 minutes (to make it harder to ignore). Each subsequent notification appears as an additional 1 minute segment.

- Bottom right quadrant:- Blue arc shows steps indicating progress towards daily goal.

- Bottom left quadrant:- Red arc shows move bar: triggered when it is time to move.

- Show / hide battery and feet icons using app. setting or the 12/24hour system time setting. (The battery and steps icons are hidden in 12 hour mode).

- Triangle at 12 o'clock indicates phone connection status: A blue triangle when the phone is connected and a red exclamation mark when disconnected.

- Configurable second-hand style (arrow or pointer)

- Configurable main hand styles

- Smart date placement: Date moves to 9 O'clock positition to avoid being obscured when hands are at 3 O'clock.

- Second hand is displayed when watch enters high power mode (as with all watch faces this is under control of the the watch which switches modes automatically when it detects gestures - see https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?300514-Watch-hands-disappear-after-10-seconds).

A new idea :-)

Hi, the new update with the notification field works great!

I had another idea that perhaps would be interresting to investigate.
It would be nice to have an indicator tor the next sun event.
For example if the next event is sunrise, then show a yellow dot at the time when sun rises.
And when the next even is sunset show a blue dot at that time...

A little bit like the watch face Cogolana has implemented it...

The notification gauge

Hi,

after using the watch face I have a small cosmetical suggestion for the notification gauge.

I woudl suggest that the first part of the gauge, the first five segments until the 5 minutes position, indicates that there are message. Then the count start at the 6 minutes position indicating 1 message, 7 minutes position indicates 2 messages, and so on...
Today the 5 minute position indicate 1 mesasage... and so on.

It would also be nice to be able to choose a different color for the indication that there are messages, the first five segments until the 5 minutes position. And then a different color for the message count, starting from the 6 minuts position.

Hi Milos,

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the sunrise / sunset idea - I will add that to the list along with the primary / secondary colour for notifications and the suggestion that the first notification bar is an indicator and the count starts from minute 6.

It looks like there's a small alignment problem on the notifications too - the bars don't quite line up with the minutes so I'll need to look into that.

New Version V1.6 Available with Configurable Data Formatting

The latest update - V1.6 - is now available.

This version has the following changes:

Added support for different date formats. You can use the Garmin Connect mobile app to select between "day of week/day" or "month/day" formats, or you can alternate between the two. Thanks to Peterhillergard and MindeMartutaitis for the suggestions.
Fix formatting bug when bluetooth disconnected on semi-round watches

Note: After installing you may need to reboot your watch to pick up the latest version.

Support rect wastches please

Hi,

I have this WF running on my fenix 3HR. My friend with her vivoactive HR would also love to have this geraet WF.
Could you possibly extend your WF to support this kind of device(s)?

Thanks for your kind comments, I've had a quick try at adding support for the Vivoactive HR and other rectangular watches, but the 148px resolution means that things get very squashed. It won't be impossible, but it will require reworking the icons and quite a bit of testing. There are a few other things I'd like to get working first so it may take a while but I'll do my best.

Bug fixes to improve reliability of install on newer firmware

The Dual-time hand offset from the local time is configurable via the watch settings in the Garmin connect app:

To show UTC time sett the time offset to a special value (0).
To show home time when travelling set the offset to the number of minutes difference between local time and home time.

Unread messages arc

Hi,
Nice improvements!
Remember we discussed the arc for the unread messages?
The last discussion we had was if it should start at the six minutes marker for the first message and then inrease by one marker for each message. In that way it would be easier to read how many unread messages thre are...
Do you think it is possible to update this?

I also wonder if the possibility to hide the battery and the "feet" symbols has disappeared?
