Creating a forum page for support for the gMap application.
  • Great!

    This is a great idea!

On my Fenix 1, I had topo map installed, and I really miss this for on the fly route planning.

If you could make it possible to make a waypoint and show bread crum, this app would be perfect!

One little bug on Fenix 3:
There is a little gap on right of the screen.

Thank you for a great app!
  • Good work, I like it. Still needs a couple of things sorted on the F3 to perfect but good going:

    >When the 'Waiting for GPS' text changes to' Getting Map' you actually see 'WGetting MapS'

    >You get a square map which is offset to one side of the screen and you can still see part of the screen behind

    >The Zoom in/out would be more intuitive the opposite ways round ie Up = Zoom in, Down = Zoom out
  • Like it!

What are your plans? Would be nice, if we were able to use other data pages with the app.

    regards

    Volkjer
  • When I installed this on Fenix 3, the multi timezone and weather widget stopped working, and the gMap itself doesn't work.

And then I removed gMap and timezone and weather is back to normal.

Needs a little help on how to get it to work on Fenix 3

sun-moon phases, weather and everything else works with gmap and gmap ALSO works, I just had the patience to wait for the map to load. :)
I can see the right-hand side and bottom are not properly centered on screen... I tried the zoom-unzoom but probably I was out of patience already.

Did anyone ascertain the cell use of mobile data through this app? I can't do it today because I did a livetrack this morning but I am curious: how much traffic does this thing use per hour?

    Works with Windows 10 Tablet?

I tried to get those map tiles via BT connection with my Windows 10 tablet.
The communication with Garmin Connect Mobile works well. And it seems that gMap communicates with the tablet, too.
But after getting the messages "Waiting for GPS" and (after GPS fix) "Getting Map" I wait and wait - and nothing happens. I waited ~10-15 minutes. I tried this several times, but never had success.
The tablet is connected to the Internet via WLAN.

    What can be the reason?
    Thanks!

gMap doesn't load any map tiles

gMap is a great idea but it doesn't load map tiles onto my Fenix 3.

I use a Windows 10 tablet connected to Internet via WLAN. Communication with the Garmin Connect Mobile App on the tablet has no problems.
After a successful connection Fenix 3 <--> tablet (via BT) and after getting the GPS fix gMap displays "Getting Map" but nothing happens. I waited 10-15 minutes and I tried this several times.

Can it be possible that the data transfer via Windows 10 (Phone) doesn't work yet?

Doing any communication from CIQ apps to GCM/WP has never worked. GCM/WP doesn't support it yet. People have asked for it (including me) in the Garmin Connect Mobile for Windows thread but never heard anything back.

    https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?582-Garmin-Connect-Mobile-Windows

You'll also see questions about doing CIQ app settings from GCM/WP, as that also isn't available (last I checked at least)

These are problems with Garmin Connect Mobile for Windows and not Connect IQ apps.

    Thanks for the information!
  • Has anyone got it to work on an FR230/235/630 ?
