Datafield: Flight Fields

Leave comments/suggestion here for Flight Fields.

A dozen data field designed for the Air traveler. Designed with the help of a Pilot.
This multi data field provides navigation, distance remain and ETE to one waypoint, which the waypoint is programmable from Garmin Express or Connect phone app. The way point is entered in degrees only. If either the Longitude or Latitude is negative use the check box to indicate negative.

Custom Destination (Long/Lat) Waypoint entered through Connect App or Garmin Express.
Supports only one way point.

How to use:
From the custom user configuration menu in Garmin Express or Garmin Connect, enter your destination Longitude and Latitude waypoint in decimal degrees. If the coordinate Long/Lat is negative set the negative button. The ETE and Distance Remaining are determined by the way point position and your current position.

v1.1
- adds heading bug
- reduced the rolling average for speed

1.0.1
- Cosmetic changes.
- Reduced how often ETE is calculated.

Data Fields:
-Max Speed (Metric or Statute)
-Speed (Metric or Statute)
-Average Speed (Metric or Statute)
-Altitude (Metric or Statute) (Barometer Based SDK limitation should be GPS based)
-Distance (Metric or Statute)
-Distance Remaining (Metric or Statute)
-Elapsed Timer
-Estimated Time Enroute ETE
-GPS Strength (NA, "Last" Last Known Position, GPS-2, GPS-3, GPS-4)
-Fast read battery meter
-Bluetooth Connectivity
-Time of Day 12hr or 24hr

Field Locations:
Time | Elapsed Time
Speed | Dist./Dist. Remaining
----------Battery----------
Avg SPD | Altitude
GPS | ETE |Max SPD
Bluetooth

Future Version (coming soon)
- Multi-waypoints
- Airport codes as waypoint
- New separate App for Geocaching. This app will work "as is" for geocaching, but the distance not ideal for geocaching,.

    How to make it apear

    Good day
I have the fenix 3 and I do some flying and this looks like a good tool to use.
I have downloadted the Flight fields on my Watch but I do not know were to find it so I would view it on the watch screen
Any steps to take to make it appear?

    Thank you
    Jason

FlightFields is a data field and needs to be added to an application.
    goto
    settings > Apps > "App of choice">data screen> Screen 1-9>
    scroll down to
    1.) Layout - set to 1 field
2.) scroll to 'Field 1' - set to ConnectIQ > FlightField

This is a Summary and how to add a ConnectIQ data field is explained further in the manual. hope this get you going.

Does the SDK give you access to Saved Positions?

If it does people could save the co-ordinates in advance and name them with the airport designators.

It would make entering co-ordinates possible without a phone or computer.

I think the Data Field is great as-is... Just a suggestion.

    Thanks,

    George

    Thanks George!
No the SDK does not allow access to Waypoints, that was the original idea. :(
I'm rebuilding as an App (vs. a datafield, as is) and I may have access to the waypoints.

As a Application i will have access to GPS elevation, which is a desired value vs. altimeter elevation.

    Thanks for the reply.

It works great on my F3 HR.

I thought the waypoint idea was a stretch as you would have thought of it already.

    Good Luck with your development.
  • It is great app.
The elevation should be the GPS elavation. Inside the aircraft the barometric elevation has no sense.

It crash when use Android connect IQ to input coordinate.

Plus, I found that middle line I believe distance left is incorrect.
