Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • - emailing it to yourself to access on your phone is not a bad way of doing it - probably one of the easiest. Or you could use a program like Microsoft Onenote which syncs between your PC and phone. Unfortunately you will have to copy and paste it in some way, in order to enter it into the Garmin settings - as that's the only way I've provided.

Although if I'm doing it myself I have used Garmin Express on the PC to enter the profile text into the settings (rather than one of the Garmin phone apps) - that way you can just do a direct copy from the simulator into the settings in Garmin Express.

If you paste the profile text here I can see how the ring is set up - but I suspect it somehow isn't set to show battery, even if that was intended!

  • Hey markdotai,

  • Hi can I change the weather degree unit to Celcius? Br, M

  • - if you change this in your watch settings (for mine it is in Settings > System > Units) then the watchface should match

  • Hi - not yet unfortunately sorry - Venu is still on my list, but a bit lower down as it's a big job Slight smile

  • Thank you, that was it!

Ah yes, the "weather" temperature is not supported yet, as I just realized.

Great app, great work by the way!!!! :-D

  • "Can we get circles and rectangles that show on % like the visible on battery below %, for example training Load, have one bar for training load below 33% one between 33-66% and one 66-100%"

I've noted this suggestion down, as it would be cool - but not sure of how to handle it yet ... would probably need to have some fixed "bands" that would work for whatever data was being displayed. E.g. multiple of 33% like you suggest or 25% or 20%. And the bands would indicate the % of the bar/circle that was full.

And maybe a band for >100% too.

So maybe 4 fixed bands (0-33, 33-66, 66-100, 100+) is a good compromise between detail, not having too many fields to set up, and having a band covering the middle ...

  • OK this is my first attempt. Heart rate at the top, battery and distance at the bottom. The ring signifies your step count up to 100% of the total. I will be adding sunrise, sunset and calories as a gesture icon later

  • Ah yes a smaller % is better i think, say 15%. Adds more customizeability. But i think the gauge i made in my latest is also pretty decent.
