Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • Here's the current version of my watchface. My goal: clear near-minimalistic face by default with clear time and basic info (orange ring: battery, blue ring: steps (vs goal), red bar: movebar). The second picture shows icons that may appear below the movebar (notification count, phone not connected, battery low, alarm set, DND on, and ongoing activity status (green = on, yellow = paused, red = stopped(resume later)). The icon row is centered, so normally it doesn't overlap the rings when most icons are not visible. The top row shows weekday (in Finnish with my watch settings) and date (again with Finnish locale in my watch).

(And sorry, in the icon screenshot the icons appear under the rings, if they are all visible. That's corrected in the setting below, but I didn't bother to take a new screenshot.)

  • Hi there,

This is amazing! I will be posting my watch face soon, I am working on some tweaks still. One question in the meanwhile: is there a way to display steps in thousands? E.g. instead of 3827 steps it'd show 3.8... there are a bunch of watch faces that do that and I think that's more than enough level of precision and takes up way less space. Otherwise I find if hard to fit it, especially when going over 10k steps.

    Thanks!

  • Great idea for the steps. I'd like to know too please.

  • I've got a watch face that takes advantage of gestures on my Fenix 6. More items show with gesture. I've noticed that the gestures don't work when I'm in the Battery Saver mode. I haven't been able to find a way to allow gestures to function in Battery Saver, does anyone know if this is possible?

    Thanks!

  • Here is mine:

    01ZW2525511WDPO1028X7BVq7R0Vd1XEYx04R0Vd3Ve617020XGYjYd41XGYN03X7153NE1367Vf3NE13XD157010XGYFYT11XGWh023Vc121VbVf7050XGWTYp18Y7DVbMVv028Y8CVbLVo028YGBVcLVe027020XGW1YtM1VyW304P0Ve3N113Vo151XBW304N0Vo3VX111YOW304L0Vv3NH13VV111XBVZ04Q0Vd3NH13Vm11

Anything you would have done differently? Let me know, if the idea is good, I could try and post it back.

    Best app ever! Thanks

  • Just uploaded a new version (0.1.29) - which can display steps in thousands Slight smile Someone else asked for this previously too, so it was good of you to prompt me again!

    Look for the options:

    • steps count (k)
    • steps goal (k)

Also added an option for HR (heart rate) to the big font.

  • - it's possible that gestures are always disabled in Battery Saver (I don't know for sure though ...). In the CIQ SDK gestures are referred to as "high power mode" since they update every second - so it might be why they are off when trying to save battery.
