Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • Hello, I did testing with my Forerunner 245M during the last two weeks and the outcome was, without any activities like running, etc. I had to recharge the watch after 7 days with my personalized watch face compared to 7,5 days with the standard Garmin watch face. So not that much difference in power consumption.

  • @5205403 - thanks for the test and information, it's very useful Slight smile  And cool to see that they aren't too different.

  • is it possible to enter the hours of sleep?

  •  - it looks like there is a "sleep time" and a "wake time" which can accessed in CIQ from the user profile. (I think these are whatever values you specify in Garmin Connect or on your watch).

Do you want to be able to display them in an element?

Or something else maybe? (Could maybe use them for profile loading).

Edit: Visibility option if inside or outside of the sleep time?

  • Thanks for the great look of the watch. Please show by example how the profile activation time and end time are ordered in the M2 options. From the above I can't understand: "The start and end time for automatic loading can be relative to your current sun rise or sun set times by using one of these prefixes "SUNRISE +", "SUNRISE-", "SUNSET +", "SUNSET-" , eg “SUNRISE-00: 30” will activate at 30 minutes before sun rise. ("DAWN" and "DUSK" added now too for twilight when the sun is even lower below the horizon.)".
I want to set profile 2 to start at 9:50 and finish at 6 p.m. Please!

  • Hi 7764172

profile 2 between those times is straight forward BUT what settings are you using for profile 1??
If profile 1 is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week -  your watch will never even look at profile 2!

Your watch will always start with profile 1 and then stay there until it's told NOT to by your your settings.

If you have 2 faces and want profile 1 to show from 6pm to 9.50am and profile 2 to show from 9.50am to 6pm, you need to do the time settings on profile 1.

Profile 2 is just then set as 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - so it shows when profile 1 ISN'T active.
    Does this make sense?

    I hope that's some help?

    Allen

  • I have made some changes to my face for people with poor eyesight (like me). It has a ring on the right for steps and one on the left for battery (it appears when the battery drops to medium). Also an alarm icon appears at the bottom.

  • Is it possible to show the ocean tides? The reason I bought a Garmin watch was because of TidalFace but now that face is not working, so I would love to be able to make my own which will show me the tides on my watch face, and not have to use a widget.

  • - there isn't an option for tides currently. I'm going to add it to my list though! I suspect it will be too expensive to fit into the memory remaining available to use in M2, but would be good to add for a future watchface or future watches (with more memory).

  • Thank you. It didn't work for me from the first one, so I tried load / save / curent and the order of saving those two clock themes. It might not be a bad idea to paste your tutorial somewhere above. Thank you.
