Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • Played around a bit to make something that fits the Quatix. Banner on top is blue, but turns red when there are pending notifications. Heart rate at the bottom. Otherwise quite similar to the default face, which I'm very fond of.

    Code:

    01ZC5225111WDPO10180B0Vx2008040Vx50091200001X6WY020P121N11X6Vx036813N713XD811X6Xz03X7817Y6Vh0X6VYVlVW70W10X6VYVvO1X6S03Ve357010X6YjVWO70VW0X6YfKVWWv0Vw0X6YfKVW

  • Nice Job . What's the battery drain like on the white background? I'm sure it's been asked about before, but there's no way I'll ever find it in this list.

  • MIP (memory in pixel) devices don't use more power if a pixel is white or black.  The venu is AMOLED, so it does there.

So white vs black background won't make any difference on everything but a venu..

  • Thanks. I had not realized that.

  • Made some adjustments. Uniform colors + bevel and shade on the HR element.

    Code:

    01ZC5225111WDPO10180B0Vx2008040Vx50091200001X6WY020P121N11X6Vx036813N713XD811X6Xz03X7817010X6YjVWO70VX0X6YfKVWWv0Vw0X6YfKVW70I0XCVVVlQ70VX0X6VcVjP1X6U03Ve3570VW0X6VnVj370VW0WiVb3Q70Vs0X6QVj370Vs0XRVb3L

  • Hey! I love this watch face version. However, for the date on it it's only showing one digit for the day. For example, today is Sep 21 2020, yet it is showing Sep 2 2020

  • - I can't think of a particular reason why M2 would suddenly use more battery, so I hope it's not related ... but equally I hope it's not in the firmware either! I did switch to building with the latest CIQ SDK, but I haven't heard anything about that causing problems either.

If you want to try investigating some other things you could try some other CIQ watchfaces or the stock watchface and see if they make any difference. I could suggest to try turning off bluetooth - but that's just from battery usage problems I've experienced in the past on my watches (not a Vivo 4) so I'm paranoid about it now Slight smile

If resetting your watch does help, then it sounds like it is a bug in the firmware somewhere. When you switch from M2 to a widget and back again then it completely restarts M2 from scratch each time.

  • - nice and stylish designs Slight smile

  • - I just checked it and the middle number on the date line is set as "day # of week" - but I've made a quick change for it to be "day # of month" - try this:

    01ZW25105Vs1WDKO1211XGWc023VcR21VcR1XGYl03X7D51XGW303XDC13SC135C13SC13IC11XGXG01XGXG01XGYB03VfB13QC13VgB14S0O3VhB13QC13ViB14T0Ve1XGXG01XgVX03VrC11YNVX03XwD11WUVY03VaC11X5Vc03U3R1VoVa14H017010XGY5YT17010XGWVYT1

  • Dont want to be spamming the thread, so this is the very last one from me. Features: Date, HR, week#, steps, pending notifications(top icon turns blue with number, max 10), low battery indicator(top icon turns red). Some interlacing in the time.

Just want to say this is an amazing app :)
