Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • I just tried this and they are set as:

    • Top line = next sun event hours & minutes
    • 2nd line = altitude & pressure
  • Thank you very much for your help

  • Just found your watchface and have to say i love it.  I am slowing playing with the options on here to create one that I have been looking for.  A little confused on editing/adding an element to change/move it. Any tips? I will post my code when I am done.

In short I want to take a steps field and change it to something else.  I took an existing code from the thread and changed a few colors, etc but cannot for the life of my figure out how to change that to something else.

  • The menus are a little complicated Slight smile But hopefully you will get a feel for the layout as you play around with them.

The 3rd & 4th posts from the top in this thread are probably the most useful to read initially. On the 3rd post down there is also a link to an Excel file which has the full layout of the menus (which again may help to get a feel).

The main way I think of the layout is like this:

    • The top level has the "global settings" and then a list of all the fields, or past the last field is an option to add a new field (plus some other options you don't need to use to start with)
    • Selecting a field will let you modify that field (e.g. position or delete it) or you can switch to the individual elements of the field
    • At the elements level, there is a list of the elements of that field, or past the last element is an option to add a new element
    • Selecting an element will let you modify it (e.g. what it shows, or color, or delete it)

Any other questions then ask away! (And I'll answer them in the morning)

  • I think i figured it out right before you posted. Here is my version.

    Edit: and the code:

    01ZW25250W25WDPO1011XGWc020Vc121VcVW1XGYO03X78R3NC136713NC13XD751XGVk03VrC13XwC13NC13VaC13UC180B0VxVz00

  • Cool Slight smile

And I also realised the Excel menu layout didn't show the link from fields to elements very well - so I've updated it with a new version.

  • This is wonderful!

I wish there was an easier way to edit these those, for example I'm on a FR245 and it has no barometric altimeter, so the elevation counter at the top is useless to me; If it was up to me I'd keep the steps counter where it is and put the calories burnt up where the elevation was. Will it ever be possible to create/edit faces on the computer instead of the watch?

  • I doubt I will have time (in the next few years ...) to write an app for mobile or PC - I started a full time job again shortly after releasing M2 so now I'm very time starved! But if anyone else out there ever wants to give it a go then I'm happy to provide any useful resources.

Maybe there are some users out there who might offer their design services to modify/create faces for a big virtual hug or a donation Slight smile

Occasionally I don't mind making simple changes when I have a few minutes spare - so in your case try out this code (but don't blame me if it doesn't work Stuck out tongue !!) So with thanks to :
