Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • Yep the watchface needs to know your GPS position in order to calculate sunrise & sunset for your location, so the trick is to do what says.

Once your watch has a locked GPS from an activity then it remembers it for "a while", so when you switch to a watchface afterwards it can access that GPS position and store it for future use (until you get a GPS lock somewhere else). So it's enough to start an activity, get GPS lock, stop the activity and discard it, then go to the watchface again. (Or go to the Designer and that should store the GPS position too if you want to see the sun times in the Designer).

There was a bug a while ago, but just for the 945 & 245 I think, and it may be fixed now - but you had to do a more complicated process. You shouldn't need to do it but posting a link in case someone in the future needs to know: forums.garmin.com/.../892451

  • Hi, this profile only works in a GFenix6?

I try to use in a vivoactive 4 and the screen puts on black.

    Thank you.

  • Are you sure you loaded the complete Code (part 1 and 2 and both complete?

As far as I know, the vivoactive 4 watch has a different resolution compared to the F6 variants.

Try to load the profile. If the screen is black try to open the designer to check if you see the fields there. If so, try to adjust the positioning of every field to your resolution.

  • Yes, I'm sure i copied both completely Several times. Maybe it's what you say about the diffeent resolution.

I have never used the designer. I will learn how to use. Thank you very much

  •  and

I just tried Tartyron11's code in the simulator (on M2) to check it works on VA4 - and first time I copied 2 extra letters on the end of part 1, the "My" which is actually part of "My Part2" Slight smile So make sure to copy the text only up until "04G". (It will be exactly 255 characters long - I counted 257 in this case :-p ) After removing the "My" then it works for me Slight smile

The screen goes black when M2 (M2 Designer) fails to understand the format of the text code - the "My" on the end would cause this.

In the simulator it looks like the small font is the same for F6 and VA4, but I don't know for a real watch ...

  • Great!!! It works. Thank you.

Best watch face/app ever! After a lot of experimenting I think I found my perfect everyday M2 face. In addition to what you see in the pics, a simple thin white ring will start to appear around the face as the move meter starts signaling.

    Code:

Sate = Battery Full (no battery icon):

State = Battery Medium (battery icon w/ % fill):

State = Battery Low (red battery icon w/ % fill):

  • You're right. I checked the codes again and apparently I made a mistake while adding the code here in the forum. I corrected it in my post above. :-)

  • Test.

  • Thanks a lot for your great job !! Is it possible to have the compatibility with the new Garmin Tactix delta (same hardware as fenix 6x sapphire) ?

    Thanks again
