Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • My two cents...

    Circle works as movement bar.

    Hi Mark,

seems that it was false alarm from my side - sorry for that. I have 6.00 firmware for a week now and had the crashes yesterday only, while heavily using the M2 designer (but the crashes did not happen, when using it). I've re-enabled the custom M2 watchface yesterday in the evening and had no crashes since then, so it was just a coincidence (and for the moment, an unsolved mystery).

    enjoy your day!

    D.

  • Former Member That's good to hear, thanks for the update Slight smile

I was already preparing another method for debugging this! You can give it a go if interested as it may still give some useful info (but it's a bit more technical):

    • Connect your watch to a PC with USB cable
    • Open File Explorer
    • Go to this directory on your watch: This PC\Fenix 6\Primary\GARMIN\Apps\LOGS
    • There should be a CIQ_LOG.YML file and/or CIQ_LOG.BAK
    • Copy these to your PC
    • Close File Explorer from your watch
    • Disconnect your watch from the USB cable

Those files will contain a list of all recent crashes from any app - you can open them in any text editor. Or I'm happy to take a look if you send them to me.

    Thanks,

    Mark

  • Hi,
thaks for M2 & M2 designer, it's my favorite watchface!

I have a question about value managed by vivoactive 4 (and other garmin) & M2, if I'm not mistaken, it is not possibile to display "stress", "Sp02", "breath frequency", etc value...

there's some way to do it or maybe this capability can be implemented?

    Thanks!
    Matteo

  • Hi Matteo - unfortunately you are right, and those values are not available to CIQ apps/watchfaces. Hopefully one day they'll become available and then I'll add them to M2!

Does the same apply for the 7-day training load?

  • Former Member I've had a request for "training load" similar to how some other watchfaces calculate it (Luceo & Actiface) - so currently implementing that as it is just based off active calories. Although the values will be different as I don't know the exact algorithm used in those. Hopefully it will work and turn out to be useful Slight smile

Edit: so the official Firstbeat 7-day training load is not available, I'm just working on a different calculation ...
