Watchface: M2

This is the support thread for the M2 watchface:

has created a Facebook group for designs here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/423319952037948

And this PDF files contains a quick visual index to the designs posted in this thread: >>>    ForumProfiles1.pdf    <<<

To create your own design or modify one, install & use the M2 Designer app on your watch. These are the steps you would go through:

  • Optionally paste a text code into the "Profile Text" setting of M2 Designer & save the settings, or load one of your previously saved designs (either via the settings or the in-app menu).
  • Run the M2 Designer app (found underneath your activities list) and create your design.
  • Once you've finished, open the Garmin settings for M2 Designer.
  • The text code in "Profile Text" will now represent whatever your design looks like, so copy the text code from "Profile Text" - and be careful to select the whole text.
  • Close the settings for M2 Designer.
  • Open the Garmin settings for M2 (watchface) instead.
  • Delete any text that was already in "Profile Text" - this step helps to avoid potential problems
  • Paste the text code into "Profile Text".
  • Save the settings.
  • Now when you view the M2 watchface it will show your changes.

A guide for accessing the Garmin settings is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/w/wiki/14/changing-your-app-settings-in-garmin-express-gcm-ciq-mobile-store.

  • You get a few bonus ThumbsupThumbsupThumbsup for using the heart rate chart Slight smile I might try some improvements to that at some point.

  • Hi that would be great. It's the actual battery life in days like on the fenix6. No idea what the algorithm is from % to days.

  • I've uploaded a new version with this change for dawn/dusk - I've made the default be for civil twilight now as that seems to be what most people are after. But there is still an option in the Designer where it can be changed to the other versions if preferred.

I'm also wondering if anyone actually uses the "Altitude Adjustment" setting in the Garmin watchface settings for M2? Is there anyone who lives at high altitude and notices that this makes a difference and actually works? Slight smile It's applied to the dawn/dusk times now as well as sunrise/sunset.

  • Hi, great work on M2 watchface. Here is my profile which is quite minimalistic, takes 4-5% of battery a day. Some indicators are invisible if there is nothing to report.

    01Ys2525111WDPO1011WwWO020Vc121Va4XLWwXw03X7743N6135753N613XD741WrVj23Vt71PL100001X1Vj1b0S06bGT0Ve3WN713Vk741YEW60YgI0UYwI0RZCH0VdYfVa7UYvVa7RZBVa7Vd1WrK2WrVZ71WsF0N1FW61WMC0RVqJ03XeO0Vd

Unfortunately, I can't verify the altitude impact on sunrise/sunset.

  • Thanks, I'll test it in a few hours.

"Altitude Adjustment" could prove useful for mountain climbers.

  • My latest so far. Battery percent at the top, always in seconds at the bottom. Red number is notifications. I love this face!

    Hi Mark,

    I have created following profile:

    01ZW2525111WDPO1018X5B0TVq028Y8BVxU1001XGWm02GVn121Vn11XGYi0ZCI1VeYQI1R3N71XOO1RXeO1Ve3N71WMC113N71X8F13WsF111XGY904R1Vd3N713VeG13N7163111XGWD04L0Vm3N713VVG13N714Q0Vm3N713VmG11XGVj03X7G13N3135G13N313XDG1

It's two half-rings with some data (e.g. HR graph), no seconds and set to use the system fonts. Battery usage is somewhat ard. 0,2%/hrs, which is OK for me. BUT - unfortunately my watch (6x Pro Solar) crashed once every hour with this watchface. It would be great if you can solve this issue (if it can be reproduced on your side).

    Thanks

    Daniel

  • Former Member Hi Daniel - thanks for the post. I've just tested your profile and I can't see anything obvious yet.

There is a Garmin tool (called ERA) which shows me crashes that have been automatically reported and uploaded, but only for the latest version. Currently the only things showing up are due to firmware being out of date on watches (Garmin have a check to prevent apps being run on old firmware - but their check is currently broken!) And the only reports of this for F6x Pro are:

    • fēnix® 6X Pro / 6X Sapphire / 6X Pro Solar / tactix® Delta Sapphire: 3.10
      App Versions: 0.1.11
      Languages: fre, rus

So the first question I'm wondering is: is the crash you are experiencing being reported to me via ERA? And if it isn't then is it a crash in M2 or is it a crash in something else (which only happens while running M2).

So 2 things it would be great if you can do:

    • Make sure you have the latest version of M2 installed (and I'll try not to upload a new version as long as possible Slight smile)
    • Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on your watch - doing a sync with Garmin Express on PC should check this for you. (The latest version for F6 looks to be 6.00)

If you're still experiencing the crash after this, then let me know and I'll check ERA again too see if anything shows up. Or if the crash goes away also let me know, thanks!
