Heart Rate Zone Distribution v1.3
Heart Rate Zone Interval v1.0

Heart Rate Zone Distribution
This data field shows the heart rate zone distribution. The bar colors change dynamically during the activity depending on how much time is spent in each heart rate zone.
NEW: The single field layout on all watches (except the Vivoactive) displays the time in min:sec alongside separate graphs for each zone.

Heart Rate Zone Interval
This data field shows the heart rate zone in a moving bar graph. The bar colors change dynamically during the activity depending on heart rate zone. The field is meant to visualize the heart rate during intervals, too make it easier see if the effort is appropriate.
NEW: The single field layout is redesigned, and now show a proper graph.

Common for both fields
  • Heart rate zones are user configurable on watches supporting Connect IQ 1.2 and above.
  • Heart rate can be shown as Beats Per Minute or as a percentage of Max HR (user selectable)
  • In some layouts the label background is colored to show the current zone (user selectable)

The following settings are available (Defaults are provided for watches not supporting user settings):
  • Display HR as % of max HR (Default: On)
  • Background color of label shows current zone (Default: On)
  • Duration of graph in minutes (Heart Rate Interval data field only. Default: 15 min)
  • HR Zone 1 (Default: 120 BPM)
  • HR Zone 2 (Default: 132 BPM)
  • HR Zone 3 (Default: 146 BPM)
  • HR Zone 4 (Default: 153 BPM)
  • HR Zone 5 (Default: 163 BPM)
  • HR Max (Default: 194 BPM)
  • How to change settings

    Hello,

i really love this data field. is there any possibility to include the maximum heart rate of the activity?

and i would love to have a data field where I can see the time in hours and minutes (or just in minutes) in each hr-zone. maybe as a number in the graph or a seperate data field.

@Flow_Ryan: Hopefully you will like this update:

Added time spent in each zone to the single field layout.

  • Perfect!!!!

    perfect!!!! Thank you!
  • Look useful - I will also try this out.
Pitty, that we are limited to only two custom data fields on the VA.

Seem like a nice data field! One question though...When I uncheck "Display HR as % of max HR" and then save and go back to the settings it' still checked. Should it be like that?

Nope, that's not how it should work. I'll look into it. What kind of device are you using?
UPDATE: Did some memory optimizations, and both fields are now running stable on my fenix 3.

I'm using vivoactive. I'm doing the tweaking of settings in garmin connect mobile.

I'm getting the broken connect IQ exclamation point on my fenix 3 with the 6.15 beta firmware. I'm using v1.3.5 of the data field. It happens regardless of the layout of the screen I have the datafield on.

    @jburchm1
Tested the field on my watch yesterday, but I'm running 5.0 firmware.
Do you get the broken IQ icon when you are adding the datafield, or when you start the activity?

Anyway, I suspect memory issues, so could you try this data field?

It is a stripped down version, reducing memory use.

And another thing to help debugging:
Do you have a CIQ_LOG.TXT file in the GARMIN/LOGS folder on the fenix?
If you do, could you provide it? (and if you don't have it, create an empty CIQ_LOG.TXT file and run the data field again).

  • improvements?

    Hello Torstein,

you asked in another thread for improvements on this data field.

Here are some ideas which will make the data field for single field layout perfect for me.

    * include max heart rate (custom garmin data fields do not have this one) and average heart rate as there can only be 2 iq datafields per app this would help me a lot
    * include training effect with colours like the graphs (1 = grey, 2 = blue, 3 = green, 4 = orange, 5 = red)
    * maybe for better visibility describe the graphs with Z1 0-119, Z2 120-132 and so on
    * include the total time of activity
    * move the zone indicator over the actual heart rate (in my opinion they belong together)

i have tried to draw the changes on a watch face for better understanding.

with this changes this data field would include everything i need for my heart rate analysis during a workout.:)

I want to point out these improvements just show my preferences - no need to implement if you think this makes no sense ;)

    thanks a lot
