watch app - Time and Tempe

for the vivoactive, fr230, 235 and 630 (requires the Tempe Sensor)

This is NOT a watchface - it's a watch app. It has the the basic stuff for a watchface and looks like one, but includes the temperature from a Tempe Sensor. Times can be 12/24hr, Temp in F or C.
12/24hr and F/C are controlled by the system settings on your watch (12/24 is in "clock", and F/C in "units, temperature units")

PLEASE NOTE: When you start the app, it can take a minute or two before the temperature is displayed, as the Tempe only transmits that often.

Also displayed are the high and low temperatures for the day, but ONLY from the times this app is running. (but are saved for the day - they reset when the day has changed)

The screen is updated every minute (like low power mode of a watchface), but on a device with a touch screen, if you tap the screen, it updates every second (and shows seconds) for 15-20 seconds.

Hey Jim! Just out of curiosity, why is Time and Tempe an app and not a widget? Is that the only way the tempe sensor can be activated?

A widget can access the Tempe, but the Tempe only transmits every minute. The timeout for a widget on the vivoactive is only 10 seconds (so it wouldn't work most of the time) and while it's longer on other devices, I didn't think waiting up to a minute each time the widget was used would be good.

I have a widget that gets the current weather from the internet however, as that can be done fairly quickly (a few seconds) vs waiting for the Tempe to transmit.

  • Updated the store with version 0.12 today.

only two changes - and both are with icons.

    1) if your watch is charging while this app is running, the battery icon turns into an "up-arrow". There can be a delay of a minute or so for it to show charging, as well as to change back from the charging icon when it's unplugged.

    2) the sleep icon will now show between your configured sleep and wake times, in addition to when you manually set "sleep" on the watch.
  • Version 0.12a

The only thing added here is an up or down arrow next to the temperature on the right side.

It will be an up arrow if the temp is going up, and down if it's going down
  • Hello,

can you please tell me what is the symbol "!" stands for?

    Thanks,
    John B.
  • Do you mean "IQ!"? What watch, and with FW?

Do you mean the icon at the top with a ! in a box? That's the icon for notifications on your watch. (you have emails/texts that came from your phone)

Sorry I missed this one and didn't answer sooner.

Hi .. I have just downloaded this app and cannot get it to show temperature in celcius ... I have been into settings and units and celcius is set correctly. Can you please advise. I have a garmin vivoactive HR. Thanks
  • You have "Temperature Units" set to Celsius, correct? I just tried it and it's working fine for me.

What version of FW is on your watch? (look at settings>System>about and not what it says in Garmin Express or Garmin Connect)

Have been using app and it's great except for one thing. Yesterday I had turned off the Move alert in my FR235's settings. However, in your app the move line still appeared after the normal non-moving time. It would be better if the app followed the user's setting and not display the line.

And a minor feature request. Is it possible to have seconds show as well for the time?
