The "Simple" Watchfaces

I have a few Simple Wathcfaces in the app store:

"Simple Digital" - time/date steps/goal using a 7-segment display like font:

"Simple Big" - time/date steps/goal with a large skinny font.

"Simple Round" and "Simple Round 2" - analog watchfaces for the new forerunner 23x and 630. Simple Round 2 allows choice of 10+ Color Schemes!

Simple Round 2

"Simple Binary" - time/date in binary, step goal percent and other status leds!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Initially, they are for the vivoactive (expect Simple Round and Simple Round 2) and the fr23x and fr 630.

These watchfaces support "user settings" to change color schemes and options.

Here's a very good thread about how to use the "User Settings" feature:

    AM/PM Indicator

Hi, It too, have found your Simple Big watchface to be the nicest of them all on my new Vivoactive HR. I have a couple of requests.:

    1. Would it be possible to have an option to shut off the AM-PM indicator? On the VA HR it wraps around under the hours number and frankly, I've never, ever, wondered whether it was AM or PM when looking at my watch.

    2. Also, would it be possible to list the next alarm time in the spot where the total steps are being tallied?

Thank you very much for your work on this porject.
  • Actually, on the different devices, I position things in different spots. On the va-hr, I show AM/PM on the left side of the line under the time, and the seconds (when they are available to me) of the same line, but on the right side. I use the same font for the time on all devices, and on the va and semi-rounds, I can display am/pm and seconds on the side of the time, but there's not evough verticle space to show the text for the date. I'll think about adding an option to hide am/pm in 12 hr mode though.

As far as alarm times, I don't have access to that information, and if I did, it would be a bit complex, as some devices can have 3 active alarms, and I believe on the va-hr, its up to 9 active alarms.

Thank you for your quick response. I'd appreciate the AM-PM toggle, but that may just be my OCD. I understand on the alarm time.
thank you again for your work. I would have probably returned the VA HR if not for your watchface as none of the others make it as easy to read as your's. That's important when you're old and your eyes aren't what they once were!

    Have a great weekend!

  • Simple Heart on vivoactive HR

    Hi,

Thanks for an elegant watchface. I'm running Simple Heart on a vivoactive HR latest firmware (2.40). My question is if the HR value is a direct reading or if it is an average over some time period? The value from Simple Heart seems to be different than what is shown in the Heart Rate widget and by other watchfaces that show HR and I'm trying to understand why.

    Thanks, Rich
  • In "Simple Heart" I display the most recent HR rating in history (which may be a few minutes old. I do no averaging on the sample. Just the last reading.

Other watchfaces may be displaying the max/min of samples from the history requested, but I display the last HR itself... The HR widget can actually get real time data, where watchfaces can't so what I can display is only the last reading in history - plus, with a watchface, it only updates every minute most times, so a new reading could happen 1 second after I update the display, but I won't display that new reading for another minute...
  • The HR widget can actually get real time data, where watchfaces can't so what I can display is only the last reading in history

Interesting... I trust what you are saying but when I switch to the HR WATCH face by RikDingo, it seems to correlate to the widget readings much more closely.
  • It all depends on how old the most recent reading is. There are times it will be close to the widget's value, and times it will a few beats off. All watchfaces get the current data in the same way from the same history.

    I have NO modifcation options?

    Hi,

I am rusning simple hearts on vivoactive hr but i have NO options to
    change any parameter?

    Thanks
  • All these watch faces use "app-settings" to configure the options. If you use GCM/Windows, at this time I think you have to use Garmin Express to make changes.

  • "Simple" Updates and new watchfaces coming!

I'll be updating the current "Simple" watchfaces over the next few weeks (and adding a few new ones for the va-hr) so here's some general info.

for some of the older ones (Simple Big, Simple Watch, Simple Digital, etc) you may have to use app setting to change your colors back to the way you had them. But instead of using "schemes" that use a color "set", I now allow picking colors for individual things. It's more flexible and consistent with the newer "simples".

There will be new options for what you see on the "goal" line (this will vary based on data supported by your watch). All the simple watchfaces now allow picking one or more of the following: (HR, floors, and intense minutes are the things that aren't available on all watches)

steps vs goal, difference from step goal, percent of step goal, calories, distance, heartrate ("simple heart" always shows this, so not there!), floors vs goal, intense minutes vs goal.

for steps, floors, and intense minutes, you can "warn under goal" where the color will change if you haven't met the goal for that item.

Again, not on all watchfaces, but on most devices that support "Do Not Disturb", the color of the bluetooth icon changes when DND is on so if you're not getting vibrations for mail/calls/etc, it's easy to see if it's because DND is on.

New "Simples" and what's in the works (sorry, va-hr only for right now)
    • Simple Graph - allows displaying graphs for any or all of the Sensor history graphs - HR, Temperature (using the watches internal sensor and may be impacted by skin temperature), elevation and "air pressure". https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/343833f2-10ef-4d96-bee7-d668b708055e
    • Simple Activity - instead of rotating the various items, it shows steps, calories, distance, hr, floors, and intense minutes all the time.
    • Simply Analog - An Analog watchface but with the "simple" features.
    • Simple Temperature - Similar to Simple Heart but shows the last (internal) Temperature reading, and high and low Temps, as well as the last air pressure (baro) reading, so also like my "Time and Tempe" but no Tempe needed and it's a watchface!
