VivoPower - Power meter reading for VivoActive

Hi all,

I have been working on an ANT+ power profile implementation for the VivoActive, it can be downloaded here:

I would appreciate any feedback relating to whether or not it works with your power meter and also what fields are working and what messages are being shown at the bottom of the app.

I have not been able to get the calibrate feature working, let me know if you have any success. Otherwise if I can't figure out what the issue is I might remove it.

Hi Joel, new to forum and have recently purchased the vivoactive, keen to see if/how it pairs up with the power2max crank set i have. Is the ANT+ software/ data transmission essentially the same for all cranks?
Will let you know how i get on when i get both up and running. Thanks for all your work to date.

Newton Power Meter and Vivoactive

I have a Newton Power Meter that broadcasts power data to any ANT + computer. I have tried your app on my vivoactive but it does not seem to pick up the feed. Any ideas?

On a broader point based on previous points it seems that the power data will not be saved alongside speed, distance, cadence etc. when sync'g back to Garmin Connect. Is that correct?

Power Meter feedback

Hi, I would like to know what the future plans for the power meter are (if any).

I tested with a 4iiii's power meter and it seems to work in general.

Coming from a Garmin 910XT it lacks a lot of feature I like which make s it pretty much useless TO ME in it current state.

for the power meter itself, it would be good to be able to see average power as you know that power meters swing wildly on the data.

Also would like to be able to use it with GPS data to put everything in context.

The VivoActive lacks 3 primary things for me.

1. Cannot sync a power meter.
2. Does not have Triathlon mode (there is another app but still is a little buggy and also does not capture power data).
3. Does not have an option for open water swimming.

Would be great if Garmin could port over there existing functions into this one.

Sorry, I know this is about the power meter app but just wanted to put it all together.

Thanks for doing this. is it is good start. It would be good if it evolved even more :)

Hi,
have to say, Johns comments are pretty much spot on. These changes would make a massive difference to the interest in the vivoactive watch. It is so light compared to the 910/920 series that those with smaller wrists would snap them up. Also any of my colleagues who compete in Ironman distance would be interested although slightly short for duration of event, but great for training.

Waste of time.

App deleted another cycling app i had previously installed, only showed power, found random incorrect wattbikes at the studio, would not allow me to input the ant+ id... just hoppedout to iq store all the time, when on the umpteenth restart it found the correct power meter, it worked for 3-4 minutes and then crashed.

10/2/19 Joel, I downloaded your VivoPower - Power meter reading for VivoActive, and added it via Garmin Express ( it even shows up in Connect IQ / Apps. However when I tray to add my Powertap P1 pedals it does not find them, let alone pair with them. Please advise. Bob
