Application: Sailing

This thread is for any comments or questions regarding my Sailing application. Feel free to post suggestions for new features or bugs. Thanks for using.

Hi,

I tested the App one week at the baltic sea. I had no crashes all the time. But I also think it would be usefull to split the app into sailing and regatta sailing.
Because I have never used the Start-Line, Countdown or Average Speed. So I just used the first page of the app and the anchor alarm.
But I missed some information which would be usefull as well. If you sail a 50 nm track a day, I write some information into the logbook. For example the actual temperatur or the barometric pressure at one position. Therefore I have to quite the application at the moment and restart it again after I have taken a look to the temperature for example. So it would be nice if you could add a page with weather informations.

I also recognized one cosmetical thing. If it is 10:05 o'clock the watch shows 10:5. So if you have a quick look to the actual time it seduce me to say it is 10:50 instead of 10:05 o'clock. Do you understand what I mean? Is it possible to change this behaviour?

But in conclusion I was really satisfied with the functions of this app, thanks for your work.

Hi, I tested the app and like, but had some problems.
Biggest one - it closed by itself on my vivoactive. Track was saved.
Speed was showing 0 knots, when I was moving very slowly (garmin bike app was much more accurate).
Time showing 14:4 for 4 past 14 is not great.

Great app. Another page with map would be great

Hi love your app. I am using it on the FR920XT.
Love the start line feature, it is brilliant.
All the other features are great.
Like another user said, there is an issue with the time display on the first page. eg. 14:06 is displayed 14:6
It has crashed on me once after using it for about 2 hours but normally it is ok.

Another feature I would love to see is an additional page, that just shows the map (like the map page in running app from garmin) with the GPS track history displayed as a line.

This would be great when sailing upwind to keep a track of whether you are being headed or lifted etc.

Great app but a few suggestions. As was said earlier by cianhooper

With the countdown would it be possible to start it from the main screen without having to go into the settings section like having its own page with Start/Sync, Stop/Reset buttons? and having the last 60 seconds in the largest font possible.*

also have a timer that starts at 5mins and counts down to 0 then starts counting up until stopped, with the ability to sync to 1min e.g start button starts count down then pressing again jumps to 4mins, 3mins and so on. this is handy if you miss the 5min gun, it means when the 4 min gun is fired you can sync to it.*

at the same time would it be possible to have it bleep and vibrate on each min on countdown and then in the last minute beep and vibrate every 10 seconds and then in the last 10secs have a bleep as well as the current vibrate for each second?

As I have found that especially dinghy sailing it's hard to judge when to start he count down. But a simple sync function as mentioned above would be great.

Vivoactive Sailing Countdown

I have new Vivoactive and loaded Sailing app.
Have selected Countdown 1 minute but countdown will not commence by either Touching screen or pressing Action key.
What am I doing wrong or is there a bug ?

Hi,
I installed app. When i try to start it f3 shows "IQ!" And app doesn't start. F3 fw 4.4.

after i restarted f3 it worked. but when i try yo use app %90 of the times i get this error. even restarting does not solve the problem. Yesterday i had training i tried several times but i keep taking IQ! error.

am i the only one having this problem.

I'm having close ups of the application on a 4.60 Fenix 3 when changing screens. If I stay in the main screen everything runs smooth, but when changing, app closes and I see a screen from IQ with this "!". (just like Caspar, but being capable of use the main screen).

Countdown

Hi,

I got my Fenix 3 2 weeks ago and tested this app. It did not crash, but occasionally I see the IQ Screen with the !. In any case, this App is what I am searching for. So I donated a little bit of money, I would say it's worth at least two beers ;)

I just have three "feature requests":
- as I read in a post before, I think it would be better to have separated apps for racing and yachting. I think nobody is using the start line feature and the anchor alarm at the same time ;)
- I miss a syncronization in the countdown timer. I think the best would be to sync the timer to the closetst full minute. So if the counter says e.g. 3:10 a press on "start" would set it to 3:00 and at 2:51 it would also set it to 3:00. So this way one can search for the right syncronization step by step with each sign from the start ship.
- the filter interval of the speed average should be configurable, as it strongly depends on the boat used. I am using a small one without electronics on board, so I need a faster response than somebody with a 40ft cruiser.
