What you really need for the calories is just he hrm.
the problem is with the data fields.

By now with all the requests pouring in, I think different versions of the sailing app could be made.

That would make sense. I think if you connected the HRM once it will be used for any activity recorded. This would also apply to the sailing app. But I'm currently not planing to display this data in the app.

I think different versions would absolutely make sense from some point on. It seems to me, that a special yacht racing version could be of interest. Currently I'm a little stuck in my development since I wanted to build a companion app (for Android users first) but don't get it running. After this works I will implement the startline feature (Or perhaps I'll get it ready while I'm searching for a solution for the other problem). By tha way I wanted to thank you again for your constant input. That really helps to improve the app and motivate me to keep the development running.

Thank you for your hard work

You have done a remarkable job in creating a very special app. The functionality that you presently have in your Sailing app is a must-have for anyone that spends time on the water. Your app has relevance to all boaters. The basic functions of your app (position, bearing, speed, MOB, anchor watch) are things that every boater needs to know to operate a boat safely. Please keep the good work.
    Best,
    Bill
  • issues on fenix 3

Yesterday, I was trying out the sailing app. During half an hour my fenix 3 was rebooting two times. First time as I was playing around with the logbook and second time while it was simply tracking. I'm running the latest firmware version 4.2.

I'm not clear on what has actually triggered the crash, but I was indoor, so the GPS signal was very poor and might have got lost entirely.

May be you want to have a look on it. It is a really great app and must have for sailors.

For the future I would like to suggest some improvements which, I believe, would make it even more useful:

    - add a 4min countdown, sometimes you miss the 5 min signal before start of a sailing race, so you might want to synchronise on the following 4min signal.
    - add a navigation page. showing VMG in knots, bearing, course over ground and distance to the course marker boy.
    - really great would be a virtual starting line between 2 marked GPS waypoints, for example a buoy and the committee boat, showing speed, distance and burn time to the line, like on the quantix ... I've just seen in the previous tread that this already in the pipeline ..
  • I just wanted to jump into this thread to say a massive thank you to the developer.
This really is a tremendous app. I'm using a Vivoactive and my Dad, who is a cyclist, golfer and sailer was leaning towards an iWatch.
I told him about your app, and have new bought him a vivoactive for his birthday.
Seriously, Garmin should be paying you. You make their products even more appealing.
    Fantastic work.Thank you

    Grateful user (and first reviewer!)

    Hi Pashka,

I love the pictures you took on your sailing trip!! Thx for sharing them with me!

I'm currently working on the startline feature and a better countdown display. I will adjust the velocity screen like you suggested and provide it in the same update. I like the look of it! I'll let you know in the forum, when I put the update in the store

    /Romano
  • Thank you for app it very helpful

    Founded 2 "bug's"

    1:

"Analog" compass on main screen - use magnetic sensor - when rotate a clock compass course change

    2:

If possible to make some adjustments to speed calculating algorithm

Sometimes SOG jump to 19 knots ( probably add filter like - speed change in a second more than 20%-30% discard this value and wait for next )

Big thanks for application - very usable.

I will consider to "smoothen" the speed value in one of the next releases. Right now I just output what the watch records. I think this might also have something to do with the type of activity. I'll take a look into this. Regarding point 1, I didn't really understand what you mean. Please explain it a little further to me. Thank you a lot for testing :-)
